Smithville crowd loved the parade—despite the cold
Quilts that had been meants for sale at the Arts & Crafts Show were used instead by
exhibitors Saturday as the cold advanced at Smithville Jamboree.

Showmanship Award for

won the Showmanship Awa-
rd for barrows.
Although the sales total
for all animals at the auction

Karcher, FFA adviser, "We
had lots of people and we felt
it turned out real well." The
61 animals exhibited was a
record, at least for the last
several years, according to
Karcher.

Before the parade, the
annual Smithville Future
Farmers of America Live-
stock Show and Auction
collected a total of $33,661 on
the sale of steers, barrow
hogs and capons raised by
FFA members.
First Stake Bank of
Smithville purchased the
Grand Champion calf, raised
by David Miehna of Rosanky
for $2,634. The Reserve
Champion award was won by
David Janecka of Cistern but
was not sold.
Janecka also won the
Grand Champion award for
his Duree barrow hog,
bought for $2,142 by J & B
