Dolans have attended
school here for 50 years
Mrs. Wayne Dolan has done her
arithmetic lately and she has discov-
ered that there have been Dolans
attending Reagan County schools
■ for over 50 years now.
From Billy P. Dolan who entered
• in 1944 to Gene Dolan who gradu-
ated in 1998 there have been Dolans
• attending Reagan County schools.
Until a new set of Dolans come
along there may be a lull in their
: attendance in Reagan County
• schools.
Billy P. Dolan, son of Mr. and
I Mrs. O.M. Dolan entered grade
school here in 1944. The building
: has been torn down to construct new
classrooms and an elementary play-
ground. The building was used for
a band hall, a fifth grade complex
and a kindergarten complex, but it
has been demolished now for sev-
eral years.
Martha Ann, daughter of Wayne
and Martha Dolan, entered schools
here in 1947. Mrs. Zona Johnson
was the first grade teacher.
Waynette entered school in
1951. Mrs. Wayne Dolan said,
"Mildred Nunn told me that she sat
on her cap and cried the entire first
semester. Waynette wasn't six until
October. A family could pay $7.00
per month and send their children to
school at that time if the school was
not crowded."
John Dolan started school in
1954, Mike Dolan in 1958, Sue
Dolan in 1959, and Billy Robert in
1961.
Robert Eugene Dolan started
school here in 1967. Laurie Dolan
in 1970 and Marla Dolan in 1973.
Robert Eugene Dolan, son of the
late Gene Dolan and Gina Massey
started in 1987 and graduated this
year.
Mrs. Wayne Dolan added, "Until
Gene or Billy R. Dolan's sons marry
and have sons, and move here, the
Dolan family attending school here
has ended for a while, or forever.
There have been Dolans in Reagan
County schools for over 50 years."

A Little Worm
Have you ever bit into an apple,
And found a worm inside?
It's one of life's little surprises,
That we just take in stride.
Did you ever stop and wonder,
How did the little worm get in?
Because when you looked at the apple.
There's was no hole in its skin.
When the apple was just a blossom,
A little insect had some eggs to hide,
As the blossom matured into an apple,
The egg became a little worm trapped inside.
As you eat an apple and find a little worm,
You needn't gasp or shout,
Remember, the little worm is so happy,
You helped him dig his way out!
Life is full of little surprises,
This everyone can easily affirm.
The thing worse than a worm in your apple,
is finding only a half a worm!
