Six HPU students felt love and were humbled during
their Go Now Missions trips during the Christmas breakMonique Ching
YJ Editor-In-Chief
I feel like a bit of a fraud writing
this, trying to water down inexpli-
cable experiences for a larger audi-
ence. But stories that are never told
are like paintings that are never seen
- wasted inspiration. So in the hopes
that recounting the experiences of
six Howard Payne students' winter
projects with Go Now Missions
will have an effect on someone out
there, I will attempt to tell some of
their stories.
Moldova: Faith through 'shoe
people'
In a country with a popula-
tion smaller than Houston, Carlee
Ammons and Katie Walker found it
mind-blowing that it had 13 orphan-
ages housing about 1,600 chil-
dren. The Go Now team partnered
with Children's Emergency Relief
International (CERI) in its annual
Winter Boot Mission to put new
socks and shoes on the orphans'
feet.
While the Americans bundled
up with extra layers, most of the
orphans only had one meagre jacket
to protect them against weather that
stayed below 10F the entire time.
Walker remembers one boy in par-
ticular. "He was running around
with his buttocks hanging out ..
just the happiest little boy ever."
