be home for Yom Kippur. Eric
attends Hill crest High School.
Holidaying with the family are
their folks, Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Sham
of Chicago who will observe their
golden wedding anniversary on
Oct. 10 at an Open House at the

Lewis Kreditor To Be Honored

At Kfar Silver Banquet Oct. 18
Louis Kreditor of Dallas, presi-j Youth Institute, served as National
dent of the Southwest Zionist
at Temple Emanu-El. Sharing the
occasion with Mitchell and his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Rude,
5731 Melshire, will be his grand-
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Max Rude of
Dallas, and Mrs. Ben Protas of
Port Arthur and relatives: Dr. and
Mrs. J.M. Protas, and daughters,
Sheryl and Janet of Tyler; Mrs.
Gussye Williams of Marshall; and
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Sigel of
Galveston who will attend the
Bar Mitzvah and kiddush-luncheon
a£ the Temple. The same evening
Mitchell’s friends will dance at the
Hilton Inn while out-of-town guests
and family will dine there.
Pleasant memories for Mr. and
Mrs. Leo Laufer who saw
“Applause” starring Lauren Bacall
during their recent vacation in
New York. They picked up
daughter, Susan, from her summer
at Camp Tel Yehudah in Barryville,
New York and daughter, Sharon,
who spent five weeks in Israel and
four weeks in Europe. The Laufers
also vacationed in New Orleans
when they took Sharon to Sophie
Newcomb College. Recent guests
of the family were relatives, Aaron
Ciechanowski and sister, Dubia
Ciechanowski of Ramat-Gan Israel
who are touring the United States
for the first time.

Twenty-Nine excited DAFTYites
will attend a fantastic conclavette
in Tyler, October 16-18. Shirley
the event. Ten of the twenty
youth groups in the TOFTY region
will attend the Tyler Conclavette
while the other TYGs will attend
a Conclavette in Galveston also to
be held in October.
At our Oct. 4th dinner meeting
attorney Tim Kelly, President-elect
of the Dallas Bar Association was
guest speaker.
Ruthann Zieglar is chariman of
the pre-confirmation conclave to be
held Sunday, October 25 at Camp
Carter in Ft. Worth. Students who
attend will be excused from Re-
ligious School sessions on Oct. 25
and Nov. 1. An exciting program is
planned and it is sure to be an
unforgettable experience for all
those who attend.
French Jews Honored
PARIS, (JTA) — Two prominent
French Jews were made members
of France’s Legion of Honor this
week. Andre Meyer, a member of
the Alliance Israelite Universelle,
was accorded the title of Grand
Officer of the Legion d’Honneur, the
highest degree of membership.
Chief Rabbi Joseph Cohen of
Bordeaux was awarded the title of
Commander.

will be honored at the third annual
Kfar, Silver Scholarship Banquet on
October 18 at the Fairmont Hotel
according to Charles Friedman,
president of the Dallas I. Zesmer
ZOA chapter.
A resident of Dallas since 1943,
Kreditor is a past member of the
Board of Congregation Shearith
Israel and a past president and
founder of Golden Acres, the Dallas
Home for Jewish Aged. A member of
ZOA for more than 40 years, he is
a member of the National Execu-
tive Committee and served three
terms as president of the Dallas
Zionist District as well as Chairman
of the Board of the Southwest
Zionist Region for the last two
years.
Guest speaker at the Banquet
will be Herman L. Weisman,
National president of ZOA. An
honor graduate from Harvard Law-
School, Wesiman is the senior
member of the prominent New
York law firm, Amen,,Weisman &
Butler. An outstanding leader on
the national scene, he was the
first National Chairman of the
er and first president of the Brandeis
Chairman of the UJA in the crucial
years of 1948-49 and served as
National Chairman of the Com-
mission on Law and Social Action
of the American Jewish Congress
in the period when the “Warren
Court” established new landmarks
for equality and freedom. He also
serves as president of the Jewish
National Fund of America.
Mike Goldfarb, 1968 honoree,
will serve as Toastmaster for the
evening and introduce the honored
guest. Also participating in the pro-
gram will be Nahum Dagani. Execu-
tive Director of. the Southwest
ZOA; Charles Friedman, Mrs. Cary
Isenberg, Hadassah president; Rabbi
Max Zucker who will offer the in-
vocation and Rabbi Saul Besser who
will give the benediction. Songs of
Israel will be sung by Mrs. Martha
Branham accompanied by Mrs. Sue
Metz.
Assisting Mr. and Mrs. Friedman
with arrangements are Herman
Abrams, publicity and Mrs. Morris
Cohen, ticket chairman. Ticket
committee mertibers are Mmes.
David Frankfurt, Carl Beren, Stan-
ley Kaufman, Bernard Gerson,
Seymour Thum, Julius Coleman,
Jerry Frankel, Jack Lewis and
Melvyn Rosen.
