NICE SURPRIZE:
AFTER THE LUCKY WINNER’S name was drawn and the ex-
citement subsided at the Men’s Club Cadillac Dance at Ahavath Shol-
om Center, Saturday night, it was announced that Charles Martin
of 200 Fifth Avenue, New York City, was the winner of the new
1956 Cadillac. Mr. Martin, one of the foremost Manufactax*er’s
Housewares representatives in the country, purchased ten tickets
from Lou Barnett some time ago. Mr. Martin is also a community
worker for the National Conference of Christians and Jews in his
city and represents the Catholic denomination in NCCJ work on a
voluntary basis, Lou, who flew up to a Houseware’s Show in At-
lantic City, Wednesday, was set to surprise Mr. Martin with the good
news. To which we add, Nice Surprize!

ing at The Sands are Jean and
Norman Epstein, Jeanette and
Arthur Ginsburg, Dolly and Mai-
sh Lipshitz and Sammie and
Henry Simon. Recent guests of
Emily and Irving Lerner were
his brother, Morry Lerner of Mil-
waukee and a sister-in-law, Mrs.
Rose White of Galveston. Leona
Cohen just back from a delight-
ful cruise to the Bahama Islands.
Rebecca and Mitchell Victor en-
tertaining their attractive niece,
Pauline Sack of Tyler. Ruth and
Ben Sandler California bound.
Dr. and Mrs. Harold Stern have
arrived in St. Louis where Dr.
Stern will be chief resident sur-
geon at Barnes Hospital. Mrs.
Stern, the former Caryl Siegel, is
the daughter of ourtowners, Dot-
tie and Jack Siegel.
A HEARTY WELCOME to our
town for Dr. and Mrs. Lawrence
B. Greif and their fifteen year
old daughter, Arlene, and son,
Douglas, who is seven. Former
New Yorkers, the Greifs reside
at 3739-B Winthrop.
NOW THAT SARAH and Bob
Kragen and sons, Arnold and
Marshall, are home from their
tour of Las Vegas and Los Ang-
eles, they’ll concentrate on build-
ing their new home on Warnock
Drive. Spending a month with his
folks, Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Ros-
ner is Dr. Louis Rosner who has
just completed a year’s internship
at Michael Reese Medical Center
in Chicago. Dr. Ros n, who was
the nation’s outstanding under-
graduate in Phi Delta Epsilon,
medical fraternity during his
schooling at Baylor University
College of Medicine, plans to do
specialized training in neurology.
Guests of Edith and Leo Salzman
at the dance at Southwood Coun-
try Club, Sunday night were their
nephew, Tommy Spigel, his fu-
ture bride, Sandra Rose Levin-
son, her dad, Mr. I. C. Levinson,
and his folks, Mr. and Mrs. Char-
les Spigel, all of Big D. Norma
and Bob Greenberg are entertain-
ing her sister, Miss Eleanor Mas-
kell of Boston, Mass.
ANNETTE AND JIMMY Ros-
enthal included New Orleans and
Miami Beach as highlights of
their vacation itinerary when
they left for their two weeks va-
cation. Hitting the air-waves last
weekend was Mannie Rosenthal
who flew his wife Roz and young-
sters, Marcia and Billy to Trent-
on, New Jersey, for a visit with
her folks, Mr. and Mrs. David
Gross. Miss Dorothy Victor back
from a month’s stay in Houston.
Betty Jean (Mrs. Donald) Weil
of New Orleans visiting her folks,
Dorothy and Joel Rosen. Speedy
recovery wishes for Mrs. Harry
Bockstein, Mrs. Milton Mehl, Mrs.
A1 Sankary, Julius Solomon, Os-
car Rosen, and Max Goldstein.
RABBI AND MRS. I. GAR-
SEK and youngsters return the
18th from their stay at the Gal-
vez in Galveston. Spending the
4th with Rose and George Wein-
stein were her brother, Mr. Phil
Olian and her cousin, Mrs. Henry
Zweig, of Dallas. Hannah and
Louis Sandler and daughters,
Brenda and Candy vacationing
in San Francisco and Los Ang-
eles. With the younger set, Alan
Greenberg, son of the Bob Green-
bergs, Jonathan Rosenbaum, son
of the Rabbi Milton Rosenbaums
and Gary Steinberger whose folks
are the Dr. Gene Steinbergers are
enjoying activities at Camp Car-
ter. The Ed Proppers are visiting
family in Miami Beach. Excite-
ment mounts for Tobia and Ben
Ellman and their children, Her-
nia Sue and Larry and mother,
Sophia (Mrs. H. II.) Miller as
their departure date of August 1
for their South American cruise
draws near.

in-law of Gertie and Abe Kan-
trovich are happy in new homes;
in our to n, Sara Lee and Gene
Carr are delighted with their new
Ridglea home and in St. Louis,
Drs. Minna and Irving Edelman
