JESS JA WIN: My Love Affair
have had an ongoing love affair for over three
quarters of a century. MY LOVE: AMERICA!
Now, with the forthcoming celebration of our
v nation’s 218th birthday since its Declaration of
Independence, and with the nourishment of experi-
ence through the years, this love affair has become more
dedicated and compassionate.
We listen to eager bashers of our system of government who
constantly castigate the politicians in all segments of the political
arena and people who work with or for the government as
boondoggles and malingerers and we wonder if the naysayers
realty consider this great country of ours.
If s our country, our democracy and all those people who work
for it or with it are individuals who might be our neighbors and not
some mysterious makeshifts who sneak into the labyrinths and
crevices of a granite government monument to live parasitically
off the rest of us.
Our government is made up of living, breathing and hard-
working people who want to see this nation grow stronger,
healthier and happier. Simple words: the pursuit of happiness; to
provide a more perfect union; for the good of the general welfare.
