It is doubtful that there are
many flying time records like
the one set by Jack McBride,
age 60, who started flying back
in 1920 with an OJ5 Jenny and
is still flying. Of course he isn’t
using the same old Jenny when
he came to Yoakum Sunday but
he was certainly happy over the
1st anniversary occasion. "The
people are wonderful and if it’s
the real old Texas hospitality
vou’re after, go to Yoakum",
McBride commented. He had al-
so been here a year ago when
the airstrip first opened.
"B’lying Jack” has been flying
continuously for 40 years and
has over 10,000 flying hours to
his credit and holds an air com-
merce transport rating. Present-
ly he is flying for the Texas
Poorestry Service in B^ast Texas
keeping on eye on the huge pine
forests in an area from Houston
east and north and over his
homo town of Shiro, near Hunts-
ville. Last April alone he put in
103 flying hours for the Fores-
try Service.
