The Palo Pinto Community Ser-
vice Corporation will be issuing go-
vernment surplus commodities to all
eligible citizens in Burleson, Joshua,
and other surrounding areas on
Thursday, Aug. 30, from 9 a.m.-ll
a.m. at the Steppingstone Church.
These commodities are being
made available by the federal gov-
ernment and are to be issued to the
needy citizens of Johnson County
only.
If you have not received corn-
modi ties this year, then you will need
to complete a new application. These
applications can be picked up at
Joshua City Hall (102 S. Main) or at
the Steppingstone Church (located at
128 Miller, B urlcson, at the comer of
Miller and Dobson).
If you are receiving food stamps,
AFDC or SSI, then you are automati-
cally eligible for these commodities
but the personnel distributing the
commodities will have to see proof
of the food stamps by seeing a card or
a letter from the AFDC or SSI.

Airman Susan R. Henrikson has
graduated from Air Force basic
training at Lackland Air Force
Base, Texas.
During the six weeks of train-
ing the airman studied the Air
Force mission, organization and
customs and received special
training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who com-
plete basic training earn credits
toward an associate degree
through the community college
of the Air Force.
Henrikson is the daughter of
Eldon and Joanne K. Henrikson
of 440 Russell Lane, Burleson.
She is a 1987 graduate of
Burleson High School.

The City of Burleson was honored with the GFOA's Distinguished
Budget Presentation Award for its budget Presenting the plaque to
Mayor Vera Calvin is City Manager Jack Eades. The award is based on
a budget's effectiveness.

Obituary
SUSAN HENRIKSON
E.F. (BUSTER) BRYANT
Funeral services for Mr. E.F.
"Buster" Bryant, 76, of Everman,
took place Aug. 25 at 10 a.m. at the
Everman United Methodist Church
with Rev. John Williams and Rev.
Dale A. Schultz officiating. Burial
was at Everman Cemetery with Tony
Young. Roger Young, Bill Martin,
G.A. Walker, Charles Young, and
John Man acting as pallbearers.
Mr. Bryant died Wednesday,
Aug. 22,1990, at an Alvarado nurs-
ing home. He retired in 1976 after 20
years as an ironworker with Allied
Ornamental Iron. He was a member
of Everman United Methodist
Church and was a former assistant
scoutmaster.
Mr. Bryant was bom Sept. 27,
1913, in Kennedale, Texas, to Ira
Preston and Alice Cordelia Morris
Bryant
He is survived by three sons and
daughters-in-law. Buddy and Jan
Bryant of Joshua, Joe and Linda
Bryant of Burleson, and Larry and
Dorothy Bryant of Everman; one
daughter, Mary Hawkins of Osceola;
one brother, Carl Bryant of Mount
Vernon; four sisters. Myrtle Pittman
and Lois Clowers of Everman, Ida
Taylor of Rendon, and Mildred
Smith of Reua; 11 grandchildren;
and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Laurel Land of Burleson Fu-
neral Home handled the arrange-
ments.
