candlelight ceremony at Henderson
Street Baptist Church in Cleburne.
Rev. Larry Webb, a friend of the
family, officiated at the double ring
ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Nogie L. Jones of Burleson.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Jimmy Terry of Cleburne.
The bride was given in marriage
(and blessed) by her father, Nogie L.
Jones. The bride's gown, headpiece,
and veil were embroidered with
pearls. Her satin headpiece was worn
by her mother at her 1966 wedding.
The bride also wore the strand of
pearls her father gave to her mother
as a wedding gift.
Leslie De Arman of Burleson
served as the maid of honor. Tammie
Henderson and Christy Worden, both
of Joshua, served as bridesmaids.
They wore matching dresses of black
velvet and white lace.
The bride's uncles—Oran
Cariker of Lake Charles, La., James
Silton of Laporte, Texas, and Sammy
Moore of Corsicana—gave the fam-
ily blessing, said a prayer, and read
from the scriptures.
Lance Cpl. Kevin Walkerof Hon-
olulu, Hawaii, was the groom's best
man. Pvt. William Scott Beam of
Cleburne and Cpl. Allen Helms of
Childress served as groomsmen. The
groom and his attendants were dressed
in their Marine Corps dress uniforms.
Seth Jones, Tate Terry, and Todd
Terry, brothers of the bride and
groom, served as ushers.
Kay Medford of Joshua provided
the music. The soloist was Peggy
Capps of Denton, who sang "The
Lord’s Prayer" and "One Hand, One
Heart." A military sword salute per-
formed by a contingent of local Ma-
rines concluded the ceremony.
House party attendants included
Lori Williams, Randi Bevins, Heather
Ayarza, Christy Hays, and Ann Shaw.
Alsp helping at the wedding and re-
ception were Phyllis Busse, Barbara
Cumbie, Sandra London, Betty Pat-
terson, Jean T inner, and S haron Hay s.
The couple is making their home
in Twentyninc Palms, Calif.

Larry and Renee Campbell of
Crowley are proudly announcing the
birth of their daughter, Megan Renee'
Campbell. Megan was bom Friday,
Dec. 17,1993, at 2:16 p.m. at Harris
Methodist SoulhwestHospital in Fort
Worth.
The newborn weighed 5 pounds,
7-1/2-ounces, and was 18incheslong
at birth.

grandparents, Juanita Davis of
Crowjey, George Davis of Waco,
Jerry and Debbie Campbell of
Crowley, and Patsy and David Car-
away of Whitney; her great-grand-
parents, Ola Pearl and Raymond

Nola Dunn's Best Spellers
Archie Durham (1), a fifth grader, won the honor as the best speller in
Nola Dunn's Spelling Bee Jan. 14. Alessa Mize (r) earned runner-up
honors. Durham is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Durham of Burleson.
Mize is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Mize of Burleson. Mrs.
Whiteside (c) was the sponsor. Durham will compete in the area spelling
bee in Fort Worth. If he can't attend, Mize will take his place.

AARP tax counseling
available at center
The American Association of
Retired Persons (AARP) is offer-
ing free tax assistance to low and
moderate income persons need-
ing help with their tax returns.
Volunteers will be at the
Burleson SeniorCenter, 601 S.W.
Johnson, on Tuesdays from 10
a.m. to 2 p.m. starting Feb. 1 to
Feb. 14. This service is primarily
for the elderly, however, others
may be helped if time permits.
Frazier’s Best Spellers
Bryan Luera Montalvo, a sixth grader, (1) won the honor of being the best
speller in Frazier Elementary School's spelling bee. The runner-up/
alternate is Jeffrey Dillard (r), a fifth grader. If Montalvo can't compete
in the regional spelling bee, Dillard will take his place.

Feb. 5
Molly Woodbury from the
Johnson County Crisis Center will be
the guest speaker at the Johnson/Som-
ervell Counties Unit of the Retired
School Employees meeting on Satur-
day, Feb. 5.
Woodbury's topic is the "Plight
of Children in Dysfunctional Fami-
lies."
The meeting will begin at 10
a.m. at the Senior Citizens Center.in
Cleburne. That center is located at
301 S. Henderson. All members are
urged to attend. For more informa-
tion, call Katherine Brothers at 295-
5124.
Cochran has
birthday party
Kolton Wayne Cochran, son of
I Jeff and Gidget Cochran of Burleson,
celebrated his first birthday Dec. 19,
1993, with a party at his parents'
home.
Barney the dinosaur was the
theme of both the cake and the deco-
rations.
Kolton's guests included his
grandparents, Butch andRoxie West-
moreland and Qeo and Bonnie Coch-
ran; his great-grandmother, Ida Ervin;
aunts and uncles, Troy and Kristy
Harbin, Glenn and Shellie Cochran,
and Wesley Westmoreland; and
friends, Ronnie Ervin, Faye Ervin,
Karen Ervin, and Craig Ervin.
Cleburne business and professi-
nal women (BPW) will celebrate 65
years with a luncheon on Saturday,
Feb. 19, at the Cleburne Civic Center
at 11 a.m.
Carolyn Barta, Viewpoints (op-
ed page of the paper) editor of the
Dallas Morning News, will be the
guest speaker. Her column has ap-
peared on the Viewpoints page for
more than 20 years. She also writes
unsigned editorials on state govern-
ment issues and state and national
politics. Barta has appeared on "Good
Morning America," "Crier & Co.,”
and C-SPAN. Her most recent ac-
complishment is a book—"Perot and
His Peqple: Disrupting the Balance
of Political Power."
The Cleburne BPW chapter was
organized in 1929. To help the club
celebrate, members are searching for
information about the early years in
the form of scrapbooks, membership
rosters, newspaper clippings, and
infoijpation Grom former members
and officers. A display of these items
and mementoes will be organized for
the celebration. The deadline for
making these items available to the
club is Wednesday, Feb. 16.
The luncheon is open to anyone
who wants to attend. The cost is $ 15
per person. Reservations may be made
before Feb. 7 by calling Tina Harri-
son at 641-7100 or Mary Ann Jones
at 558-9179.
