Harold Joe Brenton
Harold Joe Brenton of Log Cabin, TX passed away on October 31,2013 in
Athens, TX at the age of 77.
Harold was born on July 11,1936 in Scurry, TX to Claud Lee and Thelma
Etta Morehead Brenton.
He is survived by his wife, Margie Brenton, sons, Harold ( Bo) Brenton
Jr., Jeffery Brenton, John Lee McNeill and Michael W. Sturgeon, daughters,
Leslee Gray and Theresa Hamby, fifteen grandchildren, three great grand-

Lois Holmes Duncan
Services for Lois Holmes Duncan, age 100, will be held 10am Saturday,
November 9, 2013 at Criswell Funeral Chapel in Ada, Oklahoma. Dr.
Roberto Escamilla will officiate, assisted by Reverend Jana Hogg. Burial
will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Lois passed away in Ennis, Texas, No-
vember 3, 2013.
Visitation will be held 6-8pm Friday, November 8, 2013 at Criswell Fu-
neral Home in Ada, Oklahoma.
Lois Watson Holmes Duncan was born in Ada on October 8, 1913. Her
parents were Albert Thomas Watson and Ethel Riddle Watson.
Lois attended school in Ada, Oklahoma and earned her bachelor and
master degrees at East Central University. She taught ele-
mentary and vocal music twenty-three years. The last sixteen
years were at Washington Elementary School in Ada. She
worked as a childhood guidance counselor for the state of
Oklahoma the last ten years of her working career.
Lois Watson married Joe Wesley Holmes in 1936. Joe passed
away in 1990. In 1999 Lois married Elmer Duncan who lived
until 2007. Also preceding her in death were her sister Doris
McCoy, and her brothers Glenn Watson, Lewis Watson, A1 Wat-
son and Kenneth Watson. Her son, Ronald Holmes, passed
away in 2012.
Lois is survived by beloved daughter-in-law Sarah Holmes of Pontotoc,
Oklahoma; daughter Carole Jo Blassingame and husband John of Ennis,
Texas. Grandsons are Ed Holmes and wife Shannon of Chatham, New Jer-
sey; Ken Holmes and wife Zhanna of Seguin, Texas; John Blassingame, Jr
and wife Leah of North Richland Hills, Texas; and David Blassingame of
Fort Worth, Texas. Granddaughters are Suezann Davies and husband
Simon of London, England; Evonne Hess and husband Gregg of Muenster,
Texas; Toni Barr and husband Jim of Ennis, Texas; Kelly Lowther and hus-
band Peter of Fort Collins, Colorado; Laura Knudson and husband Brian of
Las Vegas, Nevada. Lois is also survived by nineteen great-grandchildren,
and two great-great-grandchildren.
Nephews surviving are Greg Watson and his wife Waithera of Tucker,
Georgia; Rick Watson of Gainesville, Florida; William Watson of Eugene,
Oregon; Glenn Watson II and wife Mille of Rogers, Arkansas; Tom Watson,
of Blue Ridge, Georgia. Nieces surviving are Carol Kunert and husband
Gregg of La Canada, California; Mary Gay Watson of West Plains, Mis-
souri; Amelia Watson of Blue Ridge, Georgia; Nancy Watson of Chicago,
Lois Duncan was a member of Douglas Bible Club, Fortnightly Study
Club, American Association of University Women, Retired Teachers Asso-
ciation, and East Central Wives Club. Lois Duncan was an active member
of the First United Methodist Church in Ada for over sixty years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to First United
Methodist Church, Ada Oklahoma, East Central University Alumni schol-
arship fund in honor of her parents, Albert and Ethel Watson, or the char-
ity of your choice.
Pallbearers are grandsons, great-grandsons, and nephews.
Carl B Cope
Carl P. Cope, 92 passed away in Ennis, Texas on Saturday, November 2,
Carl was born in Shamrock, Oklahoma on September 27,1921 to Joseph
Edgar and Edith Marie (Stone) Cope. He grew up in Norfork, Arkansas and
graduated from Norfork High School in 1941. He went on to receive his
Bachelor’s degree from Arkansas State Teachers College and his Master’s
degree from University of Arkansas in Math. On July 7, 1951 he married
Marion Thompson and they made their home originally in Fayetteville,
Arkansas, then moved to Dallas, Texas and finally to Ennis, Texas in 1962.
He served his country proudly in the United States Army Air Corp in
Africa and the European Theater for which he received a Purple Heart.
He was a teacher for St. John Catholic School, Palmer ISD, Wilmer-
Hutchins ISD and was the Superintendent of Rice ISD. He was a member
of the Friendship Baptist Church, the American Legion, and the Civil Air
Patrol leader. He also was a member of the VFW, serving as a Post Com-
mander in 2005 and the Boy Scouts of America, serving as a Scout Master.
He is survived by his wife, Marion “Tommie” Cope; two sons: Chris
Cope and Dale Alan Cope and his wife, Karen; four daughters: Carolyn
Rockwell, Barbara and her husband, Jock Joseph, Pat Sutton, and Tana
and her husband, John Decker; eleven grandchildren: nineteen great-
grandchildren and one brother, Doyle Cope.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis, Texas. Pallbearers will be Patrick
Sutton, Phillip Cope, Alan Decker, Drew Anthony, Nick Anthony, Jonathan
Anthony, Carl Anthony, Justin Cope and Christopher Cope. Graveside serv-
ices will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 9 a.m. in the DFW Na-
tional Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
Carl W. Thompson
Carl W. Thompson, Sr., 50, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Saturday, No-
vember 2, 2013.
Carl was born in DeKalb, Mississippi on October 5, 1963 to E. B. and
Mary F. (Peden) Thompson. He grew up in Ennis and attended Ennis High

ter for over twenty-five years. He was a member of the First United
Methodist Church and enjoyed playing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Thompson; sons: Carl “C.J.” Thomp-
son, Jr. and his wife Shayna, and Matthew Thompson; three grandchil-
dren: Katelyn, Mason and Camryn; one brother, Mark Thompson and two
sisters: Cynthia Roberts and Melinda Kazee.
He is preceded in death by his father, E. B. Thompson in 1996.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8
p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A Celebration of his life will
take place on Wednesday, November 6,2013 at 2 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mor-
tuary Chapel of Ennis. Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery of Ennis
under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
