WEATHER—let s get
right down to some heavy
gossip. Haven’t been able
to get around much and lis-
ten in, but someone read in
a paper that what we had
the first of the week was not
snow, but “hoarfrost.” Ever
hear that? The one who
said it had snowed, said it
was flaky like snow, felt
like snow and flew like
snow. So, what exactly is
the difference?
BIRTHDAY—happy
birthday next week to Fran
Partin. It will be her ???
birthday she’ll be celebrat-
ing. Wait ‘til next year,
Fran, and celebrate that
one!!! (P.S. I know. Been
there and done that)!

TIMPSON-Also, got to
meet the new AD at
Timpson ISD. He is excited
about working with the
students and looks forward
to being a part of Timpson
Athletics. Real energetic
person and lots of fun to talk
with. He and Fynn have just
about ironed all the news in
Timpson out. We are also
looking forward to an
exciting athletic program
this coming year. Really
enjoyed the visit.
TENAHA — Tenaha

Today is a bright, sun
shiny day and I suppose ole
ground hog will be out and
see his shadow and if leg-
end is true we’ll have 6
more weeks of winter
weather.
Had a nice service at
church yesterday. Bro. Tom
brought a message on “The
Security of the Believer”. It
makes you thankful that our
salvation is not left up to us,
but God takes care of it.
Mary Ann is ill with the
bronchitis.
Our kids sang “Father
Abraham” and did a great
job and some of our men
helped out with the materi-
als. We enjoyed the song
and prayer services.
Margaret Oliver is hav-
ing some surgery this week.
Please keep her in your
prayers. She is a faithful
member and one of our
teachers in Sunday School.
The Silver Mile Project
that is being sponsored by
our ladies auxiliary is re-
ally doing great. We re-
ceived this suggestion from
Katie Jones in our last Dis-
trict Fadies Auxiliary
meeting. If you want to
know more about it, call
me.

day of this week at 6 pm at
the church. Our kids are so
cute and sweet and they are
learning to sing songs of
praise and make Jesus
smile. What a blessing they
are to all of us.
The Timpson Band kids
are selling chocolate candy
for fund-raisers for the
band. I had one and they are
really good.
Well, the Superbowl
game is over and the
Steelers pulled it out in the
4th quarter. I saw some of
it, but not all.
Wouldn’t it be great if
the football fans could get
that excited about Jesus
Christ and all He has to of-
fer us.
The redbirds are really
enjoying the feeders I have
in my yard. We sing a song
in our choir about “Our
Heavenly Father made the
birds and showed them
what to do. If God so loved
the little birds, I know, He
loves me too.”
Ain’t God Good!!!!
Till next time, “Fet’s just
praise the Ford.”
The “Super”star this
week is our new Athletic
Director Kenny Ray Wash-
ington. “Coach” Washing-
ton is on
the job
and hard
at work as
of today,
Monday
(1/26/09).
Coach
Washing-
ton said he wants the people
to know, “How much I ap-
preciate the interview pro-
cess and how it unfolded
with the Board. The man-
ner in which it was con-
ducted was well thought
out. To be chosen unani-
mously says a lot for the
Board and the confidence
they have in me. This is
very humbling, but it gives
me great confidence that
this community will all
work together to build
TISD into what it can be.”
Mr. Washington is a
1988 graduate of Broken
Bow High School in Bro-
ken Bow, Oklahoma. He is
a 1995 graduate of North-
eastern State University in
Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He
is coming to us from Sam
Houston High School in
San Antonio, Texas. His
coaching experience in-
cludes places like: Killeen,
Texas, Dallas, Texas,
Nacogdoches, Texas
(SFA), Garrison, Texas,
and San Antonio, Texas.
Since most of his experi-
ence in coaching has been
in Texas, we won’t hold his
being an “Okie” against
him.
Coach Washington has
had a full slate of activities
to attend to from the mo-
ment he arrived. He will
have a very busy spring
season. TISD is hosting the
district high school track
meet and the Junior High
zone track meet this year.
Of course, we are all look-
ing forward to the fall foot-
ball season. We have high
hopes this will be “our
year”.

ASSOCIATION 2008
ie
Athletic Director Kenny Ray Washington.
Coach Washington says
he has come to stay and
plans to build a successful
program. He is beginning
to evaluate the TISD re-
sources and lay his plans
for the future. He said, “I
am a people person. I en-
joy working with people
and especially the kids.
That’s the fun part. I want
the student athletes to know
they have two jobs. That is
to take care of business in
the classroom and on the
athletic field. Success in the
classroom leads to success
on the field. I also want our
coaches to be passionate
about the sports they coach.
Our Junior High programs
are the future of our suc-
cess. If the foundation is not
laid correctly, the house
will be destroyed.”
Coach Washington has a
family that will be moving
to TISD. His wife, Belinda,
is a teacher, certified in
Special Education, and
Educational Generalist. He
has three children: Kylin,
age 12, Khaden, age 6. and
Karys, age 4. He says all
his children have the initials
“KRW” because his wife
told him he could not name
any of them “Junior”.
I want to congratulate
the Board and the search
committee on their efforts to
find someone to fill this po-
sition. I think I can speak for
pretty much everyone in the
district when I say we have
been anxiously waiting to
see who our new Athletic
Director would be.
We welcome Kenny
Washington and his family
into our TISD family. We
wish him well, and again I
hope I speak for everyone
in the district when I say, we
will give him our full sup-
port and encouragement.
“Go Bears!”
Thank You
Shelby County Children’s Advocacy Center expresses
its sincere appreciation to everyone who donated to this
program during the recent holiday season It is because
of the compassion and generosity of this community that
we are ablel to bring hope, help, and healing to so many
hurting children and families. Once again, thank you for
your support and kindess.

Joaquin Banners
through Joaquin during De-
cember noticed the Christ-
mas banners along main
street. The banners and
mounting brackets were
purchased by the Joaquin
Christmas Committee. The
Committee purchased
heavy duty mounting brack-
ets so they could be used to
display other banners dur-
ing the year. Joaquin ISD
presented Joaquin Ram
banners to be displayed
along main street. The ban-
ners are part of a effort to
raise community pride in
Joaquin. We plan to change
the banners several times a
year with different seasonal
themes.
