Tenaha Hope Clinic recognized as
a Federally Qualified Health Center
By Florence Reeh
For three years the
executives at the Tenaha
(Hope) Health Clinic in Tenaha
have been working to get
recognition from the Federal
people at the Bureau of
Primary Health Care and
Human Services and finally,
they have an answer.
“We are a Federally
Qualified Health Center,” said
Jean Diebolt, director of the
Clinic, “ and we will eventually
go a step further since this is
the first step in recognition and
go for full designation. In the
meantime, we will have more
money and be able to take care
of more people who otherwise
could not afford health care.
We will receive more
reimbursement. We have
applied for full designation and
hope to get results in August,
2008.”
Ms. Diebolt introduced a
new practioner, Carolyn
Patton, who is from Orange,
Texas and now lives in
Nacogdoches.
She obtained her Bachelor’s
Degree from Stephen F. Austin
State University,
Nacogdoches, and her
Master’s from University of
Texas at Tyler.
“I am happy to be here,” she
said in an interview. “I hope to
have my own clinic some day
and I am willing to learn much
from this experience.”
Carolyn is married to
Tyrone Patton, who works at
the Student Center at SFA and
has a 17-year old son who is a
junior in high school.
“I like the fact that we are
providing low cost health care
for those unable to pay to get
it,” she continued.
“We have the best clinic
staff of any Health Care
Center, a really outstanding
group,” Diebolt said. “The
atmosphere in this clinic has
been described as “Unique” by
those who know.”
Jean Diebolt also maintains
Yoga Classes at First United
Methodist Church in Center
Monday through Thursday at
5 p.m. You may call 248-4673

Timpson City Council
approves pay raises
By Florence Reeh
Action under old business
was discussed and approved in
regard to the 100x100 feet of
land (part of Block # 26
Abstract # 168, lying North of
the North Boundry line of
Wallace Chapel Church). It
was decided to have an
appraisal to determinte the fair
market value and go through
the sealed bid process, putting
this property up for bids. The
city agreed to pay for the
appraisal and said it could be
done within 30 days.
According to the city’s lawyer,
this is the proper avenue to take
according to law concerning
the fair market value of the
property. Council agreed.
Councilman Roberts
questioned the city cleanup
campaign. He said his thoughts
were that it wasn’t going well
and steps were needed to speed
up the process.
The speed limit sign on
North 4th Street needed to be
replaced since the children play
there and are in danger without
the signs. Larry Burns, city
worker, assured the council of
the work erecting the signs.
Executive session was
called for the purpose of
discussion and action
regarding the employment and
duties of Judson Matthews
