Friday Service to be held
at the First Baptist Church
April 6, 2007 at 7 p.m. Ev-
eryone is invited to attend.
We will be collecting food

SERVICE
Center Bible Fellowship
will have “Good Friday” Ser-
vice at 7 p.m. on April 6 at
the Church, 725 Tenaha St.,
Center. A covered dish meal
will be served in the Fellow-
ship Hall following the ser-
vice.
SUNRISE SERVICE
Rev. Billy Freeman and

day, April 28,2007 for a class
reunion. The time is from
12:30 PM until 03:00 PM.
Following an over night stay
plans are to have breakfast
together the next morning.

A Community “Yard Sale”
has been scheduled for April
14th on the Tenaha Square .
Timpson and Garrison have

MEETING
The American Legion in
Timpson will meet Saturday,
April 7, at the 1st Christian
Church in Timpson about 8
am. All members are urged to
attend.
STUDENT TRANSFER
REQUESTS
Parents of students living
outside the Timpson Indepen-
dent School district who wish
their children to attend
Timpson School during the
2007-2008 school year must
request transfer no later than
April 30, 2007. This applies
to both old and new transfer
students. Due to transfer lim-
its imposed by the state,
Timpson ISD may or may not
accept new transfers for the
upcoming school year. To re-
quest paperwork call the su-
perintendents office at 936-
254-2463. You may also
download a transfer form
from Timpson ISD web site.

2nd Annual Shelby County 4-H and FFA
Livestock Show was another successful one

The 2nd Annual Shelby
County Livestock Show is in
the record books and another
successful show and sale we
had. The 2007 show kicked
off with an educational day on
Friday, March 30th. Students
and adults spent the day learn-
ing about the importance of
farm life and the land that pro-
vides us with food and shelter.
Approximately 1100 students,
teachers and parents attended
this year’s event.
The livestock show started
Saturday morning and contin-
ued throughout the afternoon.
Timpson FFA was represented
by 9 goats, 5 steers, and 12
heifers. In the market goat
show, Colton McSwain placed
3rd overall and sold for $1000
in the sale to Texas State Bank.
Marissa McLawchlin placed
4th and received $850 from
Austin Bank and Justin King
who placed 5th also selling to
Austin Bank for $700. Ryan
Battles placed 7th and sold for
$750 to Deep East Texas Elec-
tric COOP, while Macy Nix
closed the sale with her 8th
place goat purchased by Texas
State Bank for $900
In the steer show, Chaylon
Mackey won Reserve Grand
Champion steer which brought

$3000 in the sale. Chaylon’s
steer was purchased by Cen-
ter Motor Company, Ray Jones
Chevrolet, and Texas State
Bank. James Wolfe had the 6th
place steer which sold for
$1800 to Raymond Construc-
tion and Roscoe McSwain
Logging. James’steer was the
2nd highest placing county bred
steer and the highest gaining
steer of the show. James re-
ceived an additional $400 cash
award for these honors. Margo
Hooper placed 7th and received
$1700 from Shelby County
Farm Bureau. Margo also had
the 3rd highest placing county
bred steer receiving an addi-
tional $ 150. Tyler bush ended
the steer sale with his 8th place
steer selling for $1900 to
Shelby Savings and Coke-
Cola. Tyler’s steer was the 4th
highest placing county bred
steer receiving a premium of
$100.
In the heifer show, Chaylon
Mackey placed first in class
one and second in class two
with his Santa Gertrudis heif-
ers and went on to be the
Champion American heifer.
Ryan McDonald placed first in
class two with his Beefmaster
heifer and won Reserve Cham-
pion American heifer. Olivia
Samford had a good day plac-
ing second in class one and first
in class three of the English
heifers. Macy Nix placed sec-
ond in class two and returned
as the Reserve Champion En-
glish heifer. Ryan McDonald
placed third in the English
show with his Angus heifer. In
the Exotic heifer division,
James Wolfe placed first in
class one followed by his sis-
ter Elizabeth with her
Limousin heifer. Olivia
Samford placed first in class
two and was selected as Cham

Stars Over Texas program enjoyed
by all at Public Library’s Banquet

Last Saturday night the
Timpson Public Library held
its fifth annual banquet in the
Fellowship Hall of the First
Baptist Church. The theme,
Stars Over Texas, and the
decorations made it a festive
occasion and one of the most
successful banquets to date.
Stephen Chamaitelli, DVM,
and winner of Texas Country
Music Hall of Fame 2006
competition, provided the en-
tertainment which was
thorougly enjoyed by all.
The Life Center of the First
friends, business owners and
notables from the area.
One hundred percent of the
proceeds from the ticket sales
go into the library building
fund.
The Library Board and vol-
unteers thanks the people of
Timpson, Tenaha, Center,
Carthage, Nacogdoches and
surrounding areas for their gen-
erous support.
We also want to thank those
who volunteered to help with
the decorations and the
Timpson Junior Chamber for
Baptist Church was filled with their help.
Tenaha Tigers hoist
two Championships
in Junior High Track
“We Are Tenaha!”
The Tenaha girls’ and boys’
junior high track teams’ perfor-
mance in the District 21-A
track meet at Center High
School on Friday made that
statement possible.
The girls’ team, coached by
Brandi Ingram and Quentin
Cates ran away from the rest
of the 11 team field. The girls
scoredawhopping 161 points
while Apple Springs came in a
distant second.
The boys’ team, consisting
mostly of 7th graders, rallied
in the final event, the mile re-
lay, to take first in the team
competition.
Coaches Scott Tyner and
Kelly F allin proudly stood with
the boys as the Tigers accepted
the district championship
plaque.Individual winners will
be announced following
Monday’s verification of all
events.
The banquet was a festive occasion. Friends met and visited, ate and enjoyed the music.

earned the right to compete
in eight contests in the up-
coming regional UIL meet in
Tyler on April 14. These stu-
dents competed in the District
21 2A Literary Meet at
Panola College on March 19
and 20.

petition. Amanda Welsh and
Casey Edwards were named

standing Crew.

dents include Leatha
Hightower, Pat Crawford,
Mary Beth Hearne and Cindy
Rhodes.
