Dennis, 41, of 2001 Main St. were held
Thursday in Tapp Funeral Home
Chapel with the Revs. Percey Medina
and M.C. Allen officiating. Burial was
in Shooks Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ernie Christie,
Eddie Flora, Ed Moore, Bill Duff,
Harold Wood and Billy Glenn Duff.
Mrs. Dennis died Monday in
Memorial Hospital from injuries
sustained in an industrial accident at
the Ocean Spray plant.
She was bom Sept. 8,1945, in Idaho
Falls, Idaho, to Robert Leroy Smith
and Mildred Hathaway Smith.
She was an employee of Ocean
Spray Cranberries Inc. in Sulphur
Springs and a member of the House of
Prayer.
She married Chalmer Lee Dennis
June 23, 1966, in Reno, Nev. He
survives of Sulphur Springs.
Other survivors include two
daughters^ Tricia Dennis and
Christina Dennis of Sulphur Springs;
one son. William Dennis of Sulphur
Springs; two step-sons, Tim Dennis
and Jim Dennis of Sulphur Springs;
one sti./-daughter, Lillian Sandy
Dennis of Washington; two brothers,
Walter Smith of I/Os Angeles and Pat
Smith of Sacramento; five sisters,
Charlie Pennington of Haywood,
Calif., Mildred Anderson of
California, Ginger Graham, Frankie
Coysurt and Martha Graham all of
Sacramento; her father, Robert
Smith of lx>s Angeles; and four
grandchildren.
She was a secretary and a member
of the First Baptist Church of Plano.
She is survived by a daughter,
Virgina Allmon of Plano; a son,
Lonnie Albert Beadles of Commerce;
seven grandchildren; three great-
grandchildren; four sisters, Mary
Alice Kennedy of Plano, Bonny
Lockett of Lockett, Dorothy Head of
Dallas, and Anjunell Bloss of
Colorado; and one brother, Bob
Patterson of Trimdad.

Graveside services for Jewel T.
Potts, 85, of Dallas, formerly of the
Greenview Community, were held at
2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Greenview
Cemetery with the Rev. Roland Potts
officiating.
Mr. Potts died Friday in Baylor
University Medical Center in Dallas.
He was' bom Dec. 23, 1900, in the
Greenview Community, the son of
lassie Potts and Ivy Hams Potts.
He had lived in the Dallas area for
the past 70 years
Survivors include a stepson, Martin
E. Stubbs of Fort Worth; eight
stepgrandchildren; and seven great-
stepgrandchildren.
His wife, Helen Potts, preceded
him in death.

Services for Jeffrey Allen (Jeff >
Wilson, 23, of East Tawakoni were
held Tuesday in the Bois D'Arc
Baptist Church in Rains County with
the Rev. Robert Wyman officiating.
Burial was in the Lynch Cemetery
with cousins serving as pallbearers.
Mr. Wilson died Saturday in a
Dallas Hospital following a brief
illness.
He was bom in Mesquite March 19,
1963, the son of Lewis A. and Mary
Reed Wilson.
He was a printer and a member of
the Emory Baptist Church.
He is survived by his parents,
Lewis and Mary Wilson of East
Tawakoni; one brother, Greg Wilson
of East Tawakoni; one sister, Pam
Wilson of East Tawakoni; and a
grandmother, Juanita Smith of Tyler.

Services for Ruby Patterson
Briggs, a former resident of
Ridgeway, were held Tuesday at
Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral
Home Chapel in Allen.
Burial was in Restland Cemetery in
Richardson.
Mrs. Briggs. 85, of Plano died
Saturday.
She was born Nov. 26, 1920, in
Caddo, Okla., the daughter of John
and Zena Patterson.

Williams Currin, 94, of Austin, for-
merly of Cumby and Greenville, were
held at 11 a m. Monday in the Weed-

Austin. Graveside services were held
at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Cumby
Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne
Tadlock officiating.
Mrs. Currin died late Friday in
Austin, where she had resided 32
vears.
' She was born Oct. 2,1892, in Cumby
to Murphy Williams and Balzora
Mahaffey Williams.
She married Bascom Cornelius
Currin April 30, 1912. They worked
together in their Greenville business
for more than 30 years. He preceded
her in death in 1954.
She was the granddaughter of a
pioneer Texas legislator, Robert
Rueben Williams, who was also a
Confederate officer, and the grand-
daughter of Martin Crawford
Mahaffey, who served as a 13-year-
old teamster in Sam Houston s army
during the Texas War for In-
dependence.
She was a member of the
University Baptist Church in Austin.
She studied at Burleson College,
Curlee College, Wesley College and
East Texas State University before
beginning her career as a teacher in
West Texds when she was 17 years
old. v
She was a member of the Texas
Poetry Society, Austin Poetry
Society, The Quill Club, and the 20th
Century Club in Austin.
She was a 67-year member of the
United Daughters of the Con-
federacy, Greenville Chapter
She was the author of a contata and
"Evening and Morning,” which was
published in 1960.
Survivors include a daughter,
Maurine Currin of Austin.
She also was preceded in death by a
brother, Ware Ciurin of Sulphur
Springs.
Tapp Funeral Home was in charge
of local arrangements.

Funeral services for Erma J.
McClintock. 76, of Cumby are
scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday in Jones
Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in
Commerce with the Rev. Don Powell

Burial was in the Cumby Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lowell Moore,
Kenneth Romans, Harold Robinson,
Johnny Moseley, Montie Phillips and
Gary Smyres.
Mrs. McClintock died Friday in
Citizens General Hospital in
Greenville.
She was bom Sept. 20, 1910, in
Cumby to Charles and Mattie Wilson
Benton.
She married Ned McClintock in
Campbell April 8,1938. He survives of
Cumby.
Mrs. McClintock was a housewife
and a member of Greenville
Southside Baptist Church.
Other survivors include several
nieces and nephews.

Lou Stephens Hannah, 74, of Phoenix,

She was a housewife, a member of
the Baptist Church and had resided in
Arizona 49 years.
Survivors include her husband,
Frank Hannah of Phoenix, and three
sisters, Tina Ruth Hoffman, Georgia
Manning and Clara Waits all of
SvAptvur Springs
She was preceded in death by two
brothers, Artie Stephens and
Clarence Stephens.

Crumpton.
Mr. Fyke died Tuesday in Hopkins
County Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 21, 1949, in
Dallas, the son of A.C. and Yvonne
Allen Fyke. He married Wanda
Burton June 24, 1969, in Cumby. She
survives of Cumby.
He was a member of the First
Christian Church of Sulphur Springs
and the Cumby Independent School
District's Board of Trustees.
He attended Cumby Schools and
was a graduate of Sulphur Springs
High School. He served in the U.S.
Army.
Mr. Fyke was employed for E-
Systems.
Other survivors include a son,
David Fyke of Cumby; two
daughters, Christie Fyke and Mistie
Fyke, both of Cumby; his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Fyke of Cumby; a
sister, Donna Pennington of
Mesquite; and his grandmother,
Stella Allen of Sulphur Springs.

Lyman J. Brice
Funeral services for Lyman J.
Brice, 83, of 1200 N. Jackson St., were
held Saturday in the Murray-
Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with
Danny Stewart officiating. Burial
was in the City Cemtery.
Nephews served as pallbearers.
Mr. Brice died Thursday at
Woodhaven Nursing Home.
He was born May 18, 1903, in the
Tira Community, the son of S.T.F.
(Tomi and Alice Johnson Brice, a
well-known pioneer family in Hopkins
County. He married Mary Jones in
1929 in the Tira Community. She
preceded him in death in March, 1978.
Mr. Brice was a former longtime
teacher and Sulphur Springs
businessman, • having owned and
operated Brice Insurance & Real
Estate on Church Street for many
years.
He was a graduate of East Texas
State University in Commerce. He
was a charter member of the Sulphur
Springs Kiwanis Club, receiving the
first life membership ever granted by
the club in 1979 where he had a per-
fect attendance record 29 years.
He was a lifelong member of the
First Christian Church where he
served on the official board of the
church. He was also a member of the
choir and the Everyman’s Bible
Class.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs.
Viola Aiguier of Sulphur Springs; and
a brother, Harold Brice of Roekport.

ONE OF the employees of the
circus in town Thursday felt as if he
was returning home. His father,
Chesley Harold Johnston, grew up at
Arbala and is a graduate of Sulphur
Springs High School. The man with
sawdust in his shoes is Paul Johnston,
also a relative of the local Por-
terfields and Mahans, he said.
A SURPRISE 80th birthday party
for Beulah (Sis) Randolph is planned
for Nov. 23 from 4-6 p.m. at the
Sulphur Bluff Community Center.

EDDIE S. CALDWELL, 20, of
Sulphur Springs is enrolled in welding
jraining at the McKinney Job Corps
Center. He is the brother of Carlton
Robinson of 156 Lee St.
PVT. NATHANIEL W. Smithers of
Sulphur Springs has completed
recruit training at Marine Corps
Recruit Depot in San Diego. Smithers
was graduated from Sulphur-Springs-
High School and joined the Marine
Corp in April 1986.
THREE MIDDLE School students
were named the top winners in a
recent attendance contest at the
school. Tim Artt won the television
se't while Shera Charles took home
the jam box and Brandi Irby received
the Silverleaf membership.

already made at least two attempts to reach these taxpayers. The
check has been mailed to the address on the return. If it is sent back to
IRS as undeliverable by the post office, the taxpayer s account is
credited, and the IRS mails a special letter, or notice, to the taxpayer at
his or her address of record,” he explained.
"The list at the end of this article, then, is comprised of those tax-
payers who notices were also returned as undeliverable.
