Convict Beaten With Leather
Strap.
Cleburne Enterprise: Late
Wednesday afternoon, Dave Pol
lock, a white man, who was serv-
ing a jail sentence for violating
the local option law, on the road
camp near Bono, escaped from
the camp, but was captured by
Commissioner Will Hickman and
others, after a lively chase of
several miles through cotton
fields and across meadows. He
was carried back to the camp
and chained in the tent for the
night.
Thursday evening it was ru
raored that Dave bad been given
a thorough Hogging and on Fri-
day some friends of Pollock em-
ployed Dr. E. B. Osborne to go
out to the camp and examine
him, which he did, and examina-
tion proved that the leather strap
had been used on Pollock un
mercifully. A charge of aggra
fated assault was tiled against
Will Boone, overseer of the
camp, who used the strap.

A Serious Accident
Last Tuesday while little Frank
and Johnnie Belcher were at
some peeun trees, near the San j
