Wedding Held In Chapel
Vivian Lea Yoaten and
Wiliam Darrell Thacker, Jr.
were united in marriage at
Mount Saint Michaels Chapel in
Dallas on July 12,1m at 1p.m.
The Reverend Ron Bratt of
Holy Spirit Catholic Church in
Duncanville officiated the
ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Mrs. Helen Yosten of Sulphur
Springs. The bridegroom is the
son of Ms. Pat Thacker and
William Darrell Thacker, Sr.,
both of Denison, Texas.
Chris Christerson escorted
the bride to the altar. She wore
a formal length lace gown. The

Chapter II
Sulphur Springs Chapter II —
Future Homemakers newly
elected officers and advisors
attended a banana split part at
the home of Mrs. Allarea
Black.
Mrs. Black and other ad-
visors, Mrs. Collene Hines and
Mrs. Susan Adams joined the
group in planning projects and
programs for 1980-81.
Another meeting, which
included the officers’ mothers
was held in the home
economics department of the
Sulphur Springs High School.
Patterns and Fabrics for of-
ficer uniforms were discussed
and plans were made to attend
a leadership workshop as the
guests of the Future Farmers
of America. The workshop will
take place at Southwestern
Electric Power Co. lodge at
Wilkes Lodge in Avinger,
Texas.

Sandra Gayle Lively and Harvey Wayne Morris, Jr. were married in a formal ceremony June
7 in the home of the bride's parents. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald W.
Lively of Ben Wheeler and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey W. Morris of
Sulphur Springs.
Honor attendants were Tammie Kimbrell of Rockwall and Lee Glenn of Sulphur Springs.
The bride is a graduate of East Texas State University. Morris attended East Texas State
University and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. The couple will make their home
in Dallas.

Arts & Crafts
Seminar Scheduled
The Hopkins County Ex-
tension Service is sponsoring
an Arts and Crafts Seminar,
Tuesday, Aug. 5 at the Ag
Workers Building in City Park.
The seminar will begin at 1:30
p.m. and there is a 25 cent
registration fee.
Local resource people have
been scheduled to share their
talents. Lou Jane Bran-
denburgh will demonstrate
latch hook and crewel. Tole
painting and china painting will
be discussed by Faye Smith.
Juanit Cooper will demonstrate
weaving and macrame while
Patsy Neal will discuss leather
craft. Charlene Stewart of April
Showers will teach the basics of
flower arranging.
The public is invited to at-
tend. For more information
contact county extension agent,
Carrie Brazeal at 885-3443.
Katie Bennett
to be honored
The nieces and nephews of
Katie Bennett cordially invite
her friends to an open house
honoring Mrs. Bennett’s 75th
birthday. The affair will be
held, Sunday, Aug. 10 from 2
p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Community
Room of the First National
Bank.
The honoree requests, “no
gifts, please. I just want
everyone to come and have a
real good time,” she said.
Miller-Owens United
bishop sleeves were nipped into
wide lace cuff bands. The dress
featured a Queen Ann neckline
of scalloped lace. The full A-
line skirt was accented by a
single wide lace ruffle at the
hem. The back of die skirt
flowed into a chapel length
train of the same lace. The
train design followed that of the
skirt, with the same width lace
ruffle. A white sculptured tiara
crown supported the shoulder
length veil of illusion. The bride
carried a bouquet of white
daisies accented with tiny
yellow rosebuds and baby’s
breath
Trad Christerson of Dallas
was maid of honor. Mrs. Dan
Ash of Garland was the
bridesmaid. The attendants
wore floor length dresses of
pale yellow.
John Bartush of Muenster
served as best man. Groom-
sman was Matt Yosten of
Sulphur Springs. Ushers were
Martin Yosten and Tim Luce,
both of Sulphur Springs.
Music was provided by the
Christian Community of God’s
Delight Choir. Soloist were
Chris and Dick Cavnar singing
the “Wedding Song,” and
“Where Ever You Go,” sung by
Connie and Rafael Nieto.
Members of the houseparty
that follwed in the church were
Fala Alfaro, Jane Drake,
Kathy Travis, Lori Nagel,
Erika Lindorfer and Pam
Johns. Christy Yosten presided
at the registry.
Following a trip to the Grand
Canyon and Zion Canyon, Utah,
the couple will make their
home in Jacksonville, N.C.
where Thacker is stationed at
Camp LeJune. He is a corporal
in the avionics airwing division
and has just completed five
months sea duty. The
bridegroom is a graduate of
Denison High School and
Grayson County College. He
has served three years with the
United States Marines.
The new Mrs. Thacker is a
graduate of Sacred Heart High
School in Muenster and of
Grayson Community College in
Denison. She is employed by
Great North American
Stationers.
Donna Marie Miller and
Melvin Michael Owens ex-
changed vows in the Euless
Calvary Baptist Church on
Saturday, Aug. 2 at 6 pm The
Rev. Eddie Adams officiated
the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Join H. Miller of
Euless. Owens is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Buford Owens of
Sulphur Springs. He is the
grandson of Mrs. E.C. Houston,
also of Sulphur Springs.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a formal
gown of ivory chiffon over peau
de soie. The empire styled
bodice featured a sculptured
Queen Ann neckline heavily
laden with French imported
Alecon lace and pearl dusters.
The gown was further
enhanced by straight chiffon
sleeves and tbs waist was
accented by a back belt Her
slim styled skirt swept gently to
a chapel train.
The bride choose an illusion
mantilla to complete her attire.
The mantilla was encircled by
an Alencon lace trim that
complimented the bridal gown.
Sister of the bride, Mrs.
Jimmy J. Newman of Corinth,
Miss, was the matron of honor.
Other bridesmaids were Mrs.
Howard LeBeau, Detroit,
Mich.; Debbie Spradlin,
Sacramento, Calif, cousin of
the bride; Mrs. Kenny Belt of
Lubbock, sister of the groom.
The attendants wore evening
length gowns of burgundy
quiana. Each attendant of the
bride carried a single ivory silk
rose accented with burgundy
baby’s breath, streamers and
greenery.
Junior attendants were
Donnese Newman, Corinth,
Miss, and LaDonna Miller of
Euless, both nieces of the bride.
Mrs. Craig Phillips of Brazil
was an honorary bridesmaid.
The junior attendants wore
ivory chiffon formal length
gowns.
Cousin of the bridegroom,
Dean Owens of Sulphur Springs
served as best man. Groom-
smen were Stephen Grissom of
Irving; Burford Owens, father
Mrs. Mike Owens
of the bridegroom; John Miller
Jr., Arlington and Michael J.
Miller of Euless, both brothers
of the bride. Junior attendants
were Joey Newman, Corinth
Miss, and Michael Miller, Jr. of
Euless, both nephews of the
bride.
The usher for the ceremony
was Robert Thomas of Dallas;
usherette was Mrs. John E
Miller Jr., sister-in-law of the
bride from Aldington. Vocalists
were Mrs. Gene Shawl and Mr.
and Mrs. Monte Richardson.
The music included “This Is
Love,” “Let It Be Me,” and
“What A Difference You Have
Made In My Life.”
A reception was held at the
Western Hills Inn in Euless and
was hosted by Mr. and Mrs.
John H. Miller. Houseparty
members were Terry Rush,
Pam Garner and sister of the
bride, Mrs. Sharon Young of
Houston presided at the
registry.
The new Mrs. Owens is a
graduate of Trinity High School
to Euless and attended Baptist
Bible College in Missouri and
Tarrant County Junior College.
She is employed by LTV Corp.
to Dallas.
The bridegroom is a 1972
graduate of Sulphur Springs
High School and recieved his
BBA from East Texas State
University. He is currently
employed as a CPA tax
manager for Maynard Oil
Company in Dallas.
Following a wedding trip to
Colorado the couple will make
their home in Irving, Tex.
Prior to the wedding
ceremony, the couple were
feted by four wedding showers.
On June 28 at the Fellowship
Hall of the Central Baptist
Church in Sulphur Springs the
hostesses were Kathy Owens,
Bernice Fitzgerald and Nancy
Reynolds.
The wedding shower in the
Calvary Baptist Church in
Euless took place on July 11.
Hostesses for the occasion were
Kathy Griffin, Judy Adams,
Carol Fladda and Bertha
Askew.
A miscellaneous shower took
place in Grand Praire on July
24. Hostesses were Nancy
Steele, Linda Rainwater and
Sydney Stateham.
Miss Miller was honored with
a personal shower on July 30.
Hostesses were co-workers
Nancy Taylor, Cahty Brown,
Dorella Bond and Elinor
Diamond.
The rehersal dinner was
given Friday, Aug. 1 at the
Western Hills Motel in Euless.
The dinner was hosted by the
parents of the bridegroom, Mr.
and Mrs. Buford Owens.
Couple Wed In Garden
Miichelle Renee McMichael
and Trent Alan Miller were
married in a garden ceremony
at the home of the bridegroom’s
parents at 8 p.m. Saturday,
June 28, 1980. The Rev.
Raymond Armstrong, minister
of the First Christian Church,
heard the couple’s double-ring
vows.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Perry McMichael
of Paris. Her mother is the
former Rebecca Ann Williams
and she is the grand daughter
of Mrs. Jeston (Tiny) Williams.
Parents of the bridegroom are
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Miller of
Paris.
The bride and her father
entered the garden by a walk-
way lined with hurricane lamps
holding white tapers and tied
with yellow bows. They crossed
over a rustic bow bedecked
bridge that led to the gazebo
where the ceremony was
performed. The gazebo en-
trance was decorated with
English ivy entwined with
white daisies. On either side
were hurricane lamps tied with
yellow bows and streamers.
Hanging baskets in each comer
of th gazebo completed the
wedding scene.
For her wedding the bride
chose a gown of silk organza
and Venice lace fashioned with
a fitted bodice appliqued with
lace and a Queen Anne
neckline. The full, sheer
sleeves were accented with
lace appliques and cuffs edged
in lace. The full skirt extended
to form a chapel-length train
and was bordered at the
hemline with Venice lace. Her
veiling fell from a Venice lace
cap and was bordered and
appliqued with matching
beaded lace. The bride carried
a nosegay of yellow sweetheart
roses, miniature apricot car-
nations, white daisies, baby’s
breath and ming fern backed
with white lace and tied with
white ribbons.
Miss Cynthia McMichael was
her sister’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Mrs. Jerry
Yoho of Powderly, sister of the
bridegroom, Leslie Severn of
Rockwall and Kathleen
McKinney of Westport, Conn.
The attendants wore floor-
length gowns of apricot Quiana
with sheer overlay of apricot
and yellow print. The maid of
honor’s nosegay of white
daisies and baby’s breath was
tied with yellow ribbons. The
bridesmaids carried matching
nosegays tied with apricot
ribbon.
Melodie Edmonson of Naples
was flower girl and Justin
Clarke of Paris was ring-
bearer. Susie Hussey, vocalist
was accompanied at the organ
by Mrs. T.J. Davis.
Kevin Humrick of Holly,
Colo, was best man. Groom-
smen were Pat Hartsom of
Holly and Jerry Yoho of
Powderly and Keith McMichael
of Paris.
Serving as ushers were
Curtis Doyle of Detroit and
Tracy Massar of Holly.
The bride’s parents were
hosts for a reception in the
garden of the Miller home
following the ceremony.
Members of the houseparty
were Lou Ann Burris, Susie
Hurley Honored
, A miscellaneous display
shower was given for Lisa
Hurley in the home of Dr. and
Mrs. Max Latham.
The table was decorated with
the bride’s chosen colors of
apricot and cream. The silk
flower arrangement was ac-
centuated by the silver punch
bowl and serving pieces.
The shower which was at-
tended by more than 60 people
filled the afternoon as guests
dropped by for short visits. In
place of the standard cake and
punch menu, the hostesses
served a varity of hors d’
oeuvres.

graduate of Paris High School.
She is currently enrolled to
Paris Junior College and is
employed at Palace Drug
Store.
The bridegroom attended
school in Holly, Colo, and is
employed at Circle M. Cattle
Co. at Powderly.
Following a brief wedding
trip the couple will make their
home in Paris.
