THE undersigned respectfully iiiform thf public thatj-with

" they .will begin the publication of the "Congressional Union"
and "Appendix." The first will contain a full and accurate
history ol me daily proceedings of boih blanches of the nation-
al legislature. If will be compiled with such care that every
eiliyen who is interested in the public affairs will find it a com-
plete synopsis of their pioccdings and a ready book of refer-
ence upon all questions which come before them.
The second (the "Appendix") will contain very speech
which is delivered m the House of Representatives and Senate
during the session reported at length by a full and able corps
of congnssional reporters and revised before publication by
the authors wbenever it is reouesied. These two works will
be strictly imrarlia and are intended to be as iu eresl'ng andj
useful to the man oJL business ana to tne politician ot me. one
part as of the other.
It may be said without exaggeration that the next session
of Congress is destined to be one of the most important which
hu talTen place since the foundation of the government. It is
-the long session. If is the session which will develope the ge-
neral phn of the present administration. Its measures will
statnpthe rharacler of our institutions for yeats to come. Some
of the most important questions which are connected with our
foreign relations or our domestic concern" will be pn-senled
for their ci-nsideiation. The final measu.e of ratifying th-
constitution of Texas which is jo consummate her admission
into oui Union and the admission of her members into our
public councils every measure which affects the Oregon
question our relations with'Mexico as well a? the final de-
cision on the revived Zol -Verem treaty these and other
measures which are more'or less connected v i.th our foreign
relations will come nnderVbe review ot the approaching Con-
gress. Most of the eminently important questions which re
late to our internal concerns the revision of the Tariff the
adoption of the best mode lorpreservinz the public moneys a
variety of commercial measures pi rhaps the best s' S"tem lor
rguluinir the important interests of Texas the Indian ques-
tions the land question the best svstem lor our navy thee
and others will constitute a mas ol" Harness which is calcula-
ted to commariU much ot the timcol Congress and much oftbe

"gteosional Union."
The Daily Semi-Weeklyand Weekly Union will rs usual
embrace an interesting Variety ol matter on polilipal scientific
and literary subjfcts along with the current news of the day.
r The editor will.cnnlinue to devote all his energies to iheira-
p.ovement of "The Union." He finds nrny accomplished
men in this city. The administration has brought wi h it a
considerable accession ol talei.is. Several tried and distin-
guished members of the democratic party have accepted office
under it. Some of them have hberally'con'ributed their lite-
rary libjrs toour benefit ; and we hope lo enlist others jn our
servire. Besides the time is not far disiant when the editor
- intends locall oihe. talents to his assistance His ambition is
- to make hispapei worthy of the metropolis of the Union. He
.-is persuaded thai" with the facilities which his position enables-
' him toenploy; with the official and other materials placed
v within hisreach; and'with theajd of the correspondence wbteh
he is attempting to establish fn foreign countries a paper may
be publishedfwhich is not unworthy ofthesupportofhisconn-

He knew that" amid the arduous cares of a new the-
atre he could not at first do jus'ice even to himself; buUirs
ze-il hss never flagged. What enthusiasm and indt-sUycan
effect will be fully accomplished. Some errors he may have
already committed. But upon one point he can speak with
great pleasure and with equal f.eedom. The men who are
administering this government are woiking men anxious as
lie believes to do their duty io - rve their country to carry
oulthe pledges under which the President was elected arjd the
grnl.-principle.s ol the party. So long as theadministra'ionfs
conducted in ihissnrrit. and upon those principles he is prepa
red to (.o-opcratc with them in the public service; and to give
th m as he promised in his prospectus- "a fair liberal and
efficient support"
