day’s festival awards ceremony. The award is presented

Sewer rates discussed
ONA1ASKA - Onalaska Mayor
Bob Maddox and Councilman Ted
Everitt visited the Polk County
Fresh Water Supply District No. 2
(PCFWSD) board meeting Monday
night, to discuss sewer rates charg-
ed by the city and how the municipal
offices are classified.
They were told the city is
classified at a commercial rate and
is charged by square footage, and
that the rate charged the city is the
same as the rate applied to the tax
office and other governmental of-
fices in the city.
PCFWSD President Dean Stagner
noted that the fresh water supply
district’s user fee rate and tax rate
have remained unchanged and that
he does not foresee those rates
changing in the near future.
Also present to address the board
was Roland Green of Greg's
Washateria, who questioned his bill.

He was told that, if he installed a
meter to monitor wastewater at his
own expense, the fresh water
district would read the meter for one
year. If the metering indicates there
is a 20 percent variance between ac-
tual usage and what the customer is
presently being charged for, the
board indicated it would further in-
vestigate the matter.
In other business, the board open-
ed bids on providing sewer to
Stubbs’ Chevron at FM 356 and U.S.
190. Michael’s Plumbing bid
$16,007.63 for the work and Crawford
and Son Plumbing bid $10,890. The
board agree to accept the low bid,
pending receipt of proof of insurance
and bonding.
The board also accepted the audit
report for the fiscal year which end-
ed May 31, 1990, and approved the
minutes of the previous regular
meeting and vouchers.
Linda Strait, an employee of the
district for the past 19 months, is
resigning and was recognized by the
board for her service.
