Yankees
defeated
LIVINGSTON - In Little
League action this week, the
Yankees defeated Onalaska,
15-0, on Thursday. The winn-
ing pitcher was Keith Brown
and the losing pitcher was
Royce Newport, with Charlie
Morton and Dale Chapa
helping out in relief.
Big hitters for the Yankees
were Cort Mannery, Keith
orown and Brant Miller
each with doubles* while Jeff
Galloway added a double
and a triple to the winning ef-
fort.
In the second game Thurs-
day night, the Giants
defeated the Goodrich A’s,
18-4. The winning pitcher was
John Murphy and the losing
pitcher was Leonard
NcGowen with help in relief
from Reggie Smith and Bud-
dy Parker.
Outstanding hitters for the
Giants were Rod Gordon and
Joey Wall with doubles. Col-
lecting two base hits for
Onalaska were Matt Moffett
and Chris Sealy. Buddy
Parker added a triple to the
losing effort.
Aging
hearing
to be held
CORRIGAN--A public
hearing will be held in Cor-
rigan to establish priorities
for services to the senior
citizens of Polk County. The
hearing is scheduled for
10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June
3, at the Corrigan Nutrition
Site (old hospital building
which is now known as the
Human Services and
Medical Clinic).
Testimonies from senior
citizens, service providers,
and community leaders will
be taken to identify and
assess the needs of senior
citizens residing in Polk
County. People attending
will be asked to fill out a
questionnaire to document
these needs.

Eighth graders
receive honors
T-Bali Giants
The Livingston T-Ball Giants were treated to a trip to the
Astros-Giants baseball game at the Astrodome on Sunday,
May 24. Coach Cissy Parker and several parents accompanied
nine members of the team for the afternoon. Giant team
members included (bottom row, 1-r) Dawn Landriault, Step
Parker, David Walker, Rick Thompson and Todd Harrell. Top
row (1-r) Jody Heath, Scott Martin, Jack Thomas, Sidney
Williams and Joe Worthy. Not pictured is Shannon Hartman.

Parker.

1881 celebrated its 100th an-
niversary this year,
graduating approximately
400 seniors.
Valerie was named to the
National Honor Society this
year and also awarded a Roy
Scholarship. This Spring she
completed training as an
Emergency Medical Techni-
cian while 17 years old, the
youngest on record in Texas.
She was certified on her 18th
birthday May 15.
Valerie has been accepted
by the University of Texas
and will major in Pre-Med
