County, Texas, will receive competi-
tive bids at 10 o’clock a.m., on the 3rd!
day of August, 1931, at the court
house in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, on the
following deascribed road machi-nciy:
One crawler type tractor, size 30 to
40, and at said time and place said
court will proceed to let a contract, if
any bid be accepted, certified check in
five percent of amount of bid requir-
ed, and the court reserves the right to
reject any or all bids.
If any contract is made, the court
intends to issue interest bearing time
warrants for all or part payment
thereof, in any amount not to exceed
three thousand dollars, said warrants
to bear interest at the rate of six
percent per annum, and the full
amount of said warrants to mature at
a date not later than 1935.

WASHINGTON, July 20.—The city
housewife seem to be “getting the
breaks” from the low prices which
are accompanying the depression.
While the dollar in the family
budget is still below its pre-war pur-
chasing power, it now buys over 25
—and the Worst is Yet to Come
per cent more than five years ago.
The Department of Labor aver-
aged retail prices in 51 cities, and
found that when housewives went
shopping for the dinner table on June
15, they found prices 2 per cent less
than a month previous, and 20 per
cent less than a year before.
The first iron bridge built in Ameri-
ca still carries traffic at Browns-
ville, Pa. '
