The weather is getting better all
over and singing fever is going up.
It looks like it might be about 108 in
the shade soon!
We have attended some real good
singings lately. J. W. Livingston, F.
6^. Holland and I attended one of the
best Sunday afternoon singings in the
state at Cold Corner Baptist Church,
Hubbard, Texas. The church was
packed and everybody wanting to
sing. Thanks to
Mr. & Mrs. Jake
Motley for a won-
Carl McGinty and
family were there
from Waco. Carl
has been on the
sick list but is
back in the sing-
ings again, for
which we are
Loy Hooker, J. T. Williams and I
attended a big singing at Harleton,
Texas and a good time was had by
all. The house and yard was full of
people! We broke the house stretchers
that day. I discovered America not
too far from there and it was good to
see many old friends again. Thanks
to 0. B. Barber and co-workers for
everything. Enjoyed being with Gar-
land May, Otis Deaton, Lee Chasteen,
the Bell Family, Robinson Singers
and many others. A letter from Mr.
Barber telling us they would make
it an annual affair.
Mrs. Stamps and I attended an af-
ternoon singing at Ennis, Texas in
the Church of God, where Rev. Bill
Hopper is the pastor. Brother Bill
writes some mighty good songs and
you will find them in PILGRIM
PATH. Mrs. Stamps and I also en-
joyed a Sunday afternoon singing at
Denton, Texas and thanks to our
good friend Paul Blagg and others
for everything. Paul is doing much
to better gospel singing in his section.
We appreciate the way PILGRIM
PATH is being used all over the
country. Many people tell us_this is '
our best class and convention book.
Someone said you could open the book
and you would have a good song. We
like for our songs to be used ... it
makes us feel that you appreciate
what we are trying to do. If you
will do more for us, we can in turn
do more for gospel singing. We be-
lieve in it.
We still need to get more young
people interested in gospel singing.
They will be our singers of tomorrow
and I believe in giving them a chance.
Let us all work a little harder to get
them to the singings and then use
them on the program. If you do not
give them a chance, they will not
come back to your singing. A singing
school in your church or community
will help. We will be happy to help
you get a good teacher.
It’s time to start planning to attend
the Stamps Quartet Music Company's
School of Gospel Music in Dallas. The
date is June 11th thru June 30th this
year. Three full weeks with both day
and night classes. We enroll pupils
of any age. Last year we had pupils
from 6 past 80. You will be surprised
at what can be accomplished in three
weeks. We have the greatest faculty
that can possibly be gotten together.
The Stamps Quartet School is the
shortest way into gospel singing. We
teach all phases of church and sing-
ing convention music. Many full time
choir directors got their start in this
school. Nearly every big name quar-
tet has one or more of our pupils.
Tell your friends about the school and
invite them to attend. Plan to meet
them in Dallas on June 11th. For
more information write: Stamps
Quartet Music Company, Box 4366,
The school will close with the
TWENTY-FIFTH ALL NIGHT
SINGING AND BROADCAST on
Saturday night; June 30. Twenty-five
years is a long time to keep a pro-
gram going without missing a year
and we feel this is something of a
milestone. We are planning a wonder-
ful program for you friends this year,
with more than 40 quartets partici-
pating. As our featured guests we
will have The Blackwood Brothers,
Hovie Lister and the Statesmen, The
Speer Family, The Stamps Quartet
and many, many more. Make your
plans now to be with us and help us
celebrate this, our 25th year. More
about it next month.
Do you use Stamps Quartet Music
Company's church books in your
church ? If not, you are missing some-
thing worthwhile. We have several
good church books, including WORLD
WIDE CHURCH SONGS - CHRIS-
TIAN SONGS & CHOICE HYMNS -
HYMNS OF LOVE and SOUL-WIN-
NING REVIVAL SONGS. Write for
We can make this a banner year
for gospel singing if we will all put
forth a little more effort. IT CAN BE
DONE! Let us know when and if we
can help and it will be coming up if
if it is at all humanly possible. We
appreciate our friends and all you
are doing for us. We would like to
thank each one for everything.
See you next month*
What Is the Real
Joy and Happiness?
by Henry G. Riser
DO YOU HAVE IT? Are you ex-
periencing the inward joy which is
the birthright of every Christian?
What has the Bible to say about it,
and how can we
ourselves know it,
moment by mom-
There is a false .

Bible this yain, ef-
fort at being happy, and the futility
In Daniel 5:1-4 you will see some
people going all out for happiness.
What two methods did they use?
Verse 1. It must have been quite an
occasion. How long did it take for the
joy to disappear? See verses 5 and 6.
One glimpse of God, one twinge of
conscience, one touch of fear and all
the joy evaporated! What was the
tragic ending of the story in verse
We are all tempted at times to
think that there is joy to be found in
throwing off our Christian restraints
and seeking happiness in the world.
But see what that godly man Job
knew about this in Job 20: 4,5. How
long can such “joy" be expected to
last? Solomon teaches us the same
thing in Ecclesiastes 2:1, 2, 10, 11.
He experimented with worldy plea-
sure to see if he could find joy that
way. What was the result? What did
he say afterward about his laughter
and mirth? Verses 2 and 11.
Thus it is quite clear from the Bi-
ble that if joy is not found in Christ,
there is no lasting joy for you any-
where in the world. You will seek it
in vain. Money, possessions, home
life, marriage, entertainment, travel,
fame — all are like streams that dry
up in the summer.
Only when we have allowed the
Spirit to bring us complete victory
over sin shall we know what true joy
How can we tell when ‘perfect'
happiness will be known? You will
find it described in Revelation 21:4.
This is all part of the Christian's
future bliss. When will it take place?
(v.l) ? What will God do? (v.4) ?
Will you be there? If so, enjoy ev-
ery foretaste of joy that God gives
you, but remember the best is yet
