Budget Workshop on Agenda for Comm Meeting

Courtroom.
The lease agreement with South
Plains Public Health Department, is
up for discussion and approval.
The Commissioners will be dis-
cussing the updated Priority Project
List for the TxDOT Transportation
Infrastructure Fund grant, as well
as the Road Design Criteria and
Specifications, and will take appro-
priate action.
The time has come to consider
the annual maintenance agreement
with CMC Business Systems, Inc.,
and lake action as appropriate.
The Airport Project Participation
Agreement will be considered and
acted on.
The Court will hear pros and cons
on the placement of a Coco-Cola
vending machine, in the Gaines
County Courthouse, and decide
on the topic.
Among other matters of routine
business, the Commissioners will

tions and road closing requests, and
take action as appropriate.
Any new business can be brought
to the table, to have added to the
agenda, for the next time the Court
will meet
The final action of Commissioner's
Court will be a Budget Workshop.
One of the many budgeting issues,
discussed will be filling a position
in the District Attomeys’s office, a
topic that D.A Michael Monk feels
strongly about
The District Attorney's Office of
four counties, Gaines, Dawson,
Lynn and Garza Counties, is excited
at the prospect of once again having
a Victim's Advocate, in office.
This is a state funded grant with a
20% county match.
"I am veiy excited for the potential
of once again having this position
filled. Since 2008, we have been
without a dedicated lull time Victim's
Advocate. I serve four counties,
only one of which has an advocate,
it has been a strain on the investi-
gators and attorneys to wear dual
hals,” said D.A. Monk. The District
Attorney continued, “There are
minimum requirements set by law,
that are not being complied with in
most counties.
The passing of a resolution to
approve this position in Dawson
County in February, is a wonderful
step and we hope the esteemed
members of the Gaines County
Commissioner's Court consider the
countless victims this position will
help in their community.
The aid is grand, in comparison
to its cost, in perspective, the total
salary package with benefits for
this position will be about $55,000.
But with only a 20% county match
dispersed among the four counties,
Gaines County's share will be about
$4,500.”
This item will be addressed in the
Business Workshop portion of the
Gaines County Commissioner's
meeting scheduled to begin at 10:00
am, Monday.

Technology Center, Administra-
tion, Success Center and Adult

a proposal for the Board's consider-
ation, to fill the need. This proposal
totals $614,041.90 and will maintain
all of the aspects currently in place,
as well as the requested expansions.
The Board will be reading TASB
Policy Update 99, and considering
the update for approval. Update 99
represents the second of two post-
legislative updates, focusing primar-
ily on incorporating changes in law
from the 83rd Legislative Session
that were not included in Update
99 and recent amendments to the
Administrative Code as a result of
the recent legislation. Major topics
include district legal counsel, safety
programs, graduation, credit by
examination and student discrimina-

It is recommended and predicted
to be accepted by the Board.
The Board will meet in Executive
Session, to discuss further resigna-
