After a week of rest, the
East Bernard Brahmas are
ready to go as they open the
Class 2A Division II playoffs
in an area game Friday night
at Seguin.
The Brahmas, 10-0 on the
season and ranked No. 2 in
the state by Dave Campbell’s
Texas Football, meet Ban-
quete at 7:30 p.m. Friday at
Matador Stadium.
Banquete advanced to the
area playoff with a 51-18 win
over Dilley in a bi-district
playoff last week.
East Bernard received
a first-round bye since the
Brahmas were the District 13-
2A Division II champion.
The Brahmas have won
back-to-back district titles and
have advanced to the playoffs
for the third year in a row un-
der Coach Jerry Long.
Brahma notes
Tickets are $7 for adults
and $4 for students. District,
coaches and senior citizen
passes will be accepted... East
Bernard will be the visiting
team. The stadium is located
at Texas 123 and Cedar Street
... The first week of the play-
offs was not kind to the other
teams from District 13-2A.
Both lost their bi-district con-
tests. Danbury fell to Blanco,
47-21, while Hitchcock lost to
Rogers, 35-22 ... The winner
of the East Bernard-Banquete
game will advance to the re-
gional round next week and
face the winner of the Karnes
City-Bianco game.
