Gaines Co. Sheriff's Dept.
June 15 — Gaines Co. Sheriff's
Dept, deputies were dispatched
to the 2800 block of State
Line Rd. B, in reference to an
assault.
Deputies learned a male subject
had assaulted another male,
then fled the scene into New
Mexico prior to officers' arrival.
Complainants advised they
wished to press charges upon
the subject, and an investigation
is underway.
June 15 -- Gaines County
Sheriff's Dept, deputies were
dispatched to a business located
six miles south of Seminole, on
U.S. Hwy 385, in reference to a
criminal mischief complaint.
A report was made and an
investigation is underway.
June 16 -- Gaines County
Sheriff's Dept, deputies were
dispatched to an address on
FM 1788, in reference to stolen
property worth about $3,000.
Deputies met with the
complainant and a report
was taken. An investigation is
underway for the case.
June 17 -- Gaines County
Sheriff's Dept, deputies took a
report of a theft which occurred
near the intersection of CR 422
and CR 433.
According to CGSD reports,
approximately $1,000 in property
was stolen. An investigation is
underway on the matter.
June 18 -- Gaines County
Sheriff's Dept, deputies were
dispatched to the 100 block
of N.W. Ave. H, in reference
to a theft which occurred in
Comanche Trails.
A report was taken and an
investigation is underway.
June 18 -- Gaines County
Sheriff's Dept, deputies met with
a complainant at the Gaines
County Law Enforcement
Center, in reference to an
assault.
A report was taken and an
investigation is underway.
June 19 -- Gaines County
Sheriff's Dept, deputies were
dispatched to the 1200 block of
S.W. 5th St., in reference to a
criminal mischief.
A report was taken and an
investigation is underway.
June 20 -- Gaines County
Sheriff's Dept, deputies were
advised of a possible domestic
dispute between a male and
a female in a vehicle on CR
307, just south of U.S. 62/180
(Hobbs Hwy).

to have an active warrant for his
arrest out of El Paso County.
The subject, identified as
Francisco Rodriguez, 41, of
Seminole, was placed under
arrest and transported to the
Gaines County Law Enforcement
Center.
June 27 -- Gaines County
Sheriff's Dept, deputies
responded to a residence on E.
Frontier St., near the Texas/New
Mexico state line, in reference to
a burglary of a habitation.
A report was taken and an
investigation is underway.
June 21 -- Gaines County
Sheriff's Dept, deputies
conducted a traffic stop near
CR 306 and CR 347.
While investigating, GCSD
deputies learned the driver of the
vehicle was in the possession of
drug paraphernalia.
The driver was cited and
released from custody.
June 22 -- Gaines County
Sheriffs Dept, deputies observed
a vehicle speeding and stopped
the vehicle about 11/2 miles
west of CR 237, on US. 62/180
(Hobbs Hwy).
The driver, according to
GCSD reports, showed signs
of intoxication and later failed a
field sobriety evaluation.
The driver, identified as
Corey Matthew Zamora,
23, of Lubbock, was placed
under arrest and transported
to the Gaines County Law
Enforcement Center, where
he was booked for a charge of
driving while intoxicated.
June 24 -- Gaines County
Sheriff's Dept, deputies were
dispatched to the 1600 block of
FM 1757, in reference to a theft
complaint.
An estimated value stolen was
$2,000.
A report was taken and an
investigation in underway.
June 26 - Gaines County Sher-
iff's Dept, deputies conducted a
traffic stop at the intersection of
SH 214 and FM 2056.
GCSD deputies found the
driver of the vehicle to be in the
possession of illegal drugs.
The driver, identified as Barry
Eldon Allen, Jr., 43, of Hobbs,
N.M., was placed under arrest
for his drug charges — listed
as possession of marijuana,
possession of a dangerous drug
and possession of a controlled
substance — and transported
to the Gaines County Law
Enforcement Center.
June 26 -- Gaines County
Sheriff's Dept, deputies
responded to a burglary of
a habitation complaint at a
residence on FM 303, in Loop.
A report was taken and an
investigation is underway.
June 26 -- Gaines County
Sheriff's Dept, deputies received
a report of a break in between
the dates of June 3 and June 26,
at a residence in Loop.
Several items were taken,
according to GCSD reports. An
investigation is underway.
June 27 -- Gaines County
Sheriff's Dept, deputies were
dispatched to a residence on CR
200F, in reference to a domestic
disupte.
Upon arrival, GCSD deputies
learned a female subject had
assaulted her "significant
other."
The female, identified as Jo
Lynn Iss, 50, of Seminole, was
placed under arrest for assault/
family violence, and transported
to the Gaines County Law En-
forcement Center for booking.
June 29 -- Gaines County
Sheriff's Dept, deputies made
contact with a suspicious vehicle
on SH 214, approximately three
miles north of Seminole.
The driver of the vehicle,
identified as Marcos Herrera
Hernandez, 30, of Plains, was
found to be intoxicated "by
consumption of an alcoholic
beverage and/or the introduction
of a controlled substance —
cocaine into his body," according
to GCSD reports.
Hernandez, according to GCSD
reports, was also found to be in
the possession of cocaine (over
four grams).
Hernandez was placed under
arrest for a charge of driving
while intoxicated — 3rd or more;
and possession of a controlled
substance - cocaine; and trans-
ported to the Gaines County
Law Enforcement Center.
Seminole Police Dept.
June 28 — Seminole Police
Dept, officers met with a subject
at the Seminole Police Dept,
offices, in reference to a theft of
a bicycle.
A report was taken and an
investigation is underway.
June 29 -- Seminole Police
Officers conducted a traffic stop
upon a vehicle in the 1900 block
of S.W. Ave. G, in reference to
a traffic violation.
The driver of the vehicle,
according to SPD reports,
was found to be driving on a
suspended driver's license.
The driver, identified as
Lorenzo Caraveo Loya, Jr.,
23, of Seminole, was placed
under arrest for a driving while
license invalid (with previous
convictions) charge, and
transported to the Gaines County
Law Enforcement Center.
June 29 — Seminole Police
Officers conducted a traffic stop
on a vehicle in the 100 block of
N.W. Ave. M.
Both subjects, according to

Kapunahele W. Kaawa, 32; both
of Odessa, were transported
to the Gaines County Law
Enforcement Center for their
respective charges.

Dept, officers responded to a
fight in progress call in the 200
block of S.W. Ave. H.
A report was taken and an
investigation is underway.
June 30 — Seminole Police
Officers were dispatched to the
2300 block of N.W. Ave. C, in
reference to a burglary.
A report was taken and an
investigation is underway.
June 30 — Seminole Police
Officers were dispatched to
a storage unit business in the
200 block of E. Ave. A, in
reference to a criminal mischief
complaint.
A report was taken over the
incident.
June 30 — Seminole Police
Dept, officers were dispatched
to a business in the 2000 block
of Hobbs Hwy., in reference to a
criminal mischief complaint.
A report was taken and an
investigation is underway.
June 30 — Seminole Police
Officers stopped a vehicle in the
100 block of S.W. Ave. M, in
reference to a traffic violation.
During the investigation, SPD
officers during the course of
the investigation, the driver of
the vehicle was found to be
operating a motor vehicle with
an invalid driver's license.
The driver, identified as Krystal
Loraine Mares, 23, of Seminole,
was placed under arrest for
her charge and transported
to the Gaines County Law
Enforcement Center.
Governmental
Offices, Some
Businesses to
Close for July 4th
In observance of the Independence
Day Holiday on Thursday (July
4), a number of business and
governmental office closings have
been reported to the Seminole
Sentinel.
The Gaines County Courthouse,
Seminole City Hall and the Seminole
Area Chamber of Commerce's
offices will be closed on Thursday, in
observance of the Independence Day
Holiday.
All three facilities will resume
nonnal business operations on
Friday morning.
Mail service with the United States
Postal Service (USPS) will also be
haulted on Thursday in observ ance
of the federal holiday.
All three of Seminole's financial
institutions - First United Bank,
West Texas National Bank
and Commercial State Bank
- will be closed on Thursday for
Independence Day, but will reopen
at their respective regular hours on
Friday, July 5.
The Seminole Sentinel and Sentinel
Office Supply will close their offices
early on Wednesday afternoon, and
will be closed all day Thursday in
observance of Independence Day.
The Sentinel Office Supply and
Seminole Sentinel will re-open at
8:30 am on Friday morning for
regular business hours.
Advertising and publication
deadlines for the Sunday, July 7th
edition of the Sentinel will remain at
12-noon on Friday (July 5).

Museum Slate
July 9th Meeting
The next quarterly meeting of
Friends of the Gaines County
Museum, Seminole Division, is
slated to be held, Tuesday, July 9, at
6:30 p.m. at the museum.
The Gaines County Museum's
Seminole Division is located at 700
Hobbs Highway.
All members of the non-profit
organization and prospective
members are encouraged to attend.
