Folks, writin’ this miss on a
Thursday night is some hdnda dif-
ferent. I reckon
it’s ’cause it’s
sorta between
week-ends.
What y’all
think of this
beautiful
weather fer the
first week in De-
cember? You
reckon we just gonna skip winter
this year? Something ’bout
everbody runnin’ ’round in shirt
sleeves just don’t seem right. Not
that most of us ain’t enjoyin' it!
And have you walked out sorta
late at night and looked toward the
heavens. Jillions of stars and the
moon might nigh bright as day.
Beautiful!
But I don’t have to tell you 'bout
Texas weather. Just hang around a
day or so; it’ll change Probably fer
the worst.
Halleluia! Butch (Tree-Trimmer)
Thompson done graduated from
ICU down to Hillcrest Hospital in
Waco to a private room. So we all
know he be doin’ better. Don’t know
how long he gonna be there, but we
do thank the Lord fer the improve-
ment he’s made.
Shirley mentioned that he be glad
when he can go back to Ci-Ci’s fer
pizza instead of bein’ fed through
them danged tubes. I didn’t ask her
if she thought they might blend up
some of them pizzas and feed ’em
to him through one of them tubes.
Hey, it just might work.
Butch and Shirley, lots and lots
of folks got y’all in their thoughts
and prayers. Ally’all need is a-little
time fer everthing to git back to
normal. And we hope that’s purty
soon.
Dogs! Yep, yore City Council, at
the urgin of many citizens, did pass
an animal control ordinance. Steve,
down to city hall got copies of it if
any y’all want to look it over. The
phone number down there be 597-
2756. We hope to have it in effect
about, or shortly after, the first of
the year. The main goal of this or-
dinance is to help control strays
and help folks realize that they need
to keep their animals completely
under control at all times.
You might want to ask Casey
Willis about gittin’ tangled up with
a pit bull that was outta control. I
heard that it took several stitches
to put him back together. It’s not
good to hear stories like this and we
hope the ordinance may just keep
one kid, or adult, from havin’ a like
experience.
Y’all driven through the Gap at
night lately? Many, many purty
light displays up. Our town really
looks good, all dressed up fer the
Christmas season.
I’ll try to remember to tell you the
winners of the decorating contest
next week Folks is lit up on every
street fer you to drive by and enjoy.
I ain’t even gonna try and name
them cause I’d fergit somebody and
I wouldn’t want to do that. Just take
the drive and see fer yoreself.
How many more commercials
you reckon them TV networks can
add to an hour’s programmin’?
Course, some of the commercials
is better than the programs any-
how, so it ain’t all bad. You reckon
they’ll have a whole program some-
time with just the Bud Lite frogs?
I’d watch it. I do git a kick outta
them little fellers. And the Chiwawa
dog talkin’ ’bout the Mexican phone
company; Taco Bell. But lam sick
of that feller talkin’ about medical
history ’cause a patient could
choose his own doctor with their
HMO. What’s yore favorite? You
might like one I missed.
The next Gap Community Cham-
ber of Commerce meetin’ will be at
the Community Center at 6 p.m., on
Dec. 10. Y’all all come; and bring a
friend or two. Them Methodist la-
dies gonna feed us so you know it’ll
be another fine feed. Good food and
fun fellowship. It cain’t git no bet-
ter than that; can it?
It has been said that the Christ-
mas season is one of the most
stressful times of the year for many
folks and families. And fer many
different reasons. It has also been
said that much of this stress can be
relieved if we can simply focus on
the main “reason for the season."
And that is to celebrate the birth of
Our Savior Jesus Christ. My prayer
is that this will help all mankind if
we’ll simply do it.
I know all them young’uns ready
fer school to be out; probably the
teachers too. To spend holidays
with fanu.y and friends.
I hope and pray that this holiday
season will be a joyous one fer all
of us and we’ll all enter into 1999
with the hope fer peace through-out
this whole wide world.
See ya next week
