4.08% Increase In Sales Tax Rebates
To Bosque County Cities Reported

AUSTIN - Sales tax rebates ac-
cumulated in Bosque County cities
so far this year have amounted to
184,304.84. which is 4.0S percent
above last year’s to-date total of
$81,000.30 through April, according
to State Comptroller John Sharp.
Statewide, the amount of increase
from one year ago is 24 percent, ad-
ded Sharp, who sent checks totaling
382.1 million to 958 Texas cities
and $9.23 million to 106 Texas
counties, as their portions of the
sales tax.
In all, 315,399.25 was rebated to
Bosque County cities during April
1991. as compared to $13,699.63

April, as compared to $8,819.95 last
April, a 24.26 percent one-month in-
crease. The accumulated rebate
change for the year to date is -.83
percent for the county government,
as $56,845.65 has been received so
far this year, as compared to
$56,310.91 last year to date.
Cities in Bosque County receive a
one-percent rebate, while the
county gets a Vi-percent rebate on
sales taxes collected.
Merchants collect the state and lo-
cal sales taxes and send them to the
Comptroller’s office with their tax
return*. The state retains its share
and rebates HtlAs and cdtihttes'their
local portion of the sales tax each
month.
April rebate checks reflect taxes
collected on February sales and
reported in late March by business-
es filing monthly returns.
The accompanying chart indicates
detailed amounts rebated to area ci-
ties and to Bosque County in
March, plus includes information
regarding year-to-date totals and
percentages.

chairman of the Bosque County Divi-
sion, American Heart Association,
has announced March Bosque County
donations to the Association:
Donating in memory of Mona Gay
were Mr. and Mrs. Tye White and
Mrs. Helen Blassingame, while Wom-
en's Literary Club of Morgan donat-
ed in memory of Jessie Edwards.

scholarships from the Bosque County
tClifton) Rotary Club since 1976. The
awards have totaled $25,500 in the 15
years since the program began, ac-
cording to Tun Talley, club prasideat
For several years, the major sources
of scholarship funds were the former
Bosque County Rotary Taiant Show,
other dub-sponsored events, aad con-
tributions from the club treaaury In
1986, the Rotarians held their first
golf tournament, which has become
an annual club project. ,
Proceeds from the tournament, in-
cluding donations by business and
professional organisations, have ena-
bled the Rotary dub to increase the
number and amount of yearly scholar-
ships given to selected high school
seniors. The dub also welcomes con-
tributions from individuals who wish
to assist in the continuing education
of Bosque County youths.
The sixth annual Jack Russell
Memorial Bosque County Rotary Golf
Tournament will be held at 8 a.m.
Saturday, April 27, at Bosque Valley
Golf Club, Clifton Highway, Meridi-
