nostalgic businesses like antique
shops, specialty shops and bed and
breakfasts, to tenant members, who
display works in these shops, to
supporting members, consisting of
other businesses, historical loca-
tions and groups interested in
participating in the promotion of
Livingston
Although members of the Guild
meet monthly on the second Mon-
day, the Guild’s board members
meet weekly on Wednesdays.
The board is comprised of: Debra
Nelson, president; Eddie Martin,
vice president; Molly Anderson,
secretary; Beverly Athey, treasurer;
Robin Babb, director; and Dianna
Hunter, volunteer coordinator.
Membership
Benefits of joining the Guild in-
clude:
•pooling advertising and promo-
tion costs;
•promoting each others’ busi-
nesses;
•distributing brochures, which
will help all businesses;
•working with the chamber of
commerce to improve business and
tourism;
•promoting special events to en-
courage business to Livingston;
•promoting historical restoration
in downtown Livingston; and
•presenting a united front to the
town and to visitors.
There are three levels of mem-
bership -- core members, tenant
members and supporting members.
Core Member - Any person
who owns or manages an antique
shop, specialty shop or bed and
breakfast.

Tenant Member - Artisans and
antique dealers who display their
work in a Guild member’s shop.

tainment providers.

Accomplishments
The Guild’s accomplishments for
the year 2001 include:
• Becoming organized and struc-
tured as a Texas unincorporated
non-profit association.
• Growing from seven founding
members to 55 members network-
ing to help each other and
Livingston.
• Producing a quarterly newsletter
to keep members informed.
• Participating in events and adver-
tising promotions.
• Organizing a July 4lh parade for
the Polk County Youth Rodeo As-
sociation.
• Holding a benefit auction for
victims of the Sept. 11 tragedy.
• Participating in the October
Blood Fest by giving away thank
you coupons and providing a
unique mode of transportation for
blood donors.
• Organizing a hunting widows
shopping spree.
• Coordinating a Christmas Elf
Workshop for artisans.
• Encouraging seasonal decorating
themes.
• Participating in the Lighted
Christmas Parade with a float entry.
• Helping enhance local events and

Livingston was northbound when
she reached for something in the
froq| passenger,«rea, according to
Trooper David Morris. The driver
looked up and saw a deer crossing
in front of her vehicle. She took
evasive action to the right and her
car struck a tree.
Dillon, who was listed as having
sustained possible injuries, was
transported by ambulance to Me-
morial Medical Center
Livingston. She was ticketed for
displaying an expired motor vehicle
inspection sticker and no liability
insurance.
The second Monday accident oc-
curred at 9:10 a.m. on U S. 190, 1.9
miles west of Livingston.
A 1993 Ford van driven by Ray-
mond Earl Alston, 26, of
Livingston and a 1995 Ford truck
driven by John Edward Leggett, 48,
of Livingston were both west-
bound. Leggett slowed for a log
truck turning left and was struck by
Alston’s van, according to Morris.
Alston was listed as having sus-
tained possible injuries and was
transported by private vehicle to a
doctor.
No charges were filed.
