Aviation Career Education
Info Presented To Rotary
By Deborah Mathews
ASSOCIATE EDITOR
CLIFTON — Representa-
tives from Texas State Techni-
cal College of Waco (TSTC)
attended the Bosque County
(Clifton) Rotary meeting last
Thursday to discuss careers in
aviation maintenance technol-
ogy. Program chair Tim Talley
also invited area high school
counselors to the meeting for
information sharing.
Talley, owner of Clifton Aero,
said that his foreman of 14
years is a TSTC graduate and
he certainly knows the quality
of the training students receive.
Talley introduced TSTC
Cluster Chairman, Transporta-
tion Services David Day, who
presented a brief overview of
the program and what it offers
the student. He described a five
semester program with a total
cost reimbursement for the
student maintaining an appro-
priate grade point average, pro-
viding a virtually free
education.
Working with Region 12 high
schools, Day said that the philoso-
phy is that the program wants to
grow its own workforce.
Day went on to describe a be-
ginning salary range of the mid
to high thirties, job demand,
and other aspects of entering
the aviation field, and invited
questions from the group.
Day and his colleagues Don
