SOME WORK, SOME PLAY -- Mike Reeves, light equipment operator with Livingston Parks
and Recreation, works on a football throw game to be used as part of a Halloween celebration to
be held from 1-3 p.m. Oct 13 in conjunction with Trade Days. Billed as a Trick and Treat cele-
bration, children will receive small prizes for showing their skills at the football throw, bean bag
toes, putt putt golf, ring toss and bowling alley, and also have a card punched to be used in a
drawing for larger prizes donated by local merchants. Kids can also trick or treat among Trade
Days vendors. Children can "warm up" for the Oct. 13 event by trying their hand at numerous
contests to be offered during next weekend's Polk County Pioneer Days Festival, Oct. 6-7.
Pioneer Days, tricks, treats ahead
There will be many opportunities
for fun in the next two weeks. The
Polk County Piooeer Days Festival
will be held at Pedigo Park on Fri-
day and Saturday, Oct. 6 and 7. On
that tame Saturday, the Livingston
Tennis Association will be having
a Family Fun Night event. If you
can’t make either of thos events,
Trade Days and our first Halloween
Trick and Treat event will be held
Oct 13-15.

The Livingston Tennis Associa-
tion will sponsor a Family Fun
Night on Saturday, Oct. 7. starting
at 6 p.m. Fun activities planned for
the event include parent/fchild dou-
bles competition, recreational vol-
leyball and refreshments.
The doubles event will consist of
parents partnered with their kids
(fifth-ninth graders) competing
against other parent/child teams.
The event is free and played for
family fun and to help children
learn more about tennis.
Volleyball
All adults interested in playing
volleyball are invited to come out
and play starting at 8 p.m. This is
another free event sponsored by the
Livingston Tennis Association. A
new playground area has been added
dose lo the tennis courts to allow
kids an activity area while parents
compete at volleyball
No advanced sign up is necessary
on either activity - just come to
the tennis courts at Matthews Park
ready to play by 6 p.m. for die
doubles event and 8 p.m. for the
volleyball.
