McCool To Speak
At HC Genealogy
Meeting Jan. 27
HAMILTON — Noted historian
Billy McCool from Comanche
County will speak at the Hamilton
County Genealogy Society meeting
slated Thursday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m.
Those who attend will hear
McCool’s tales of the Lamkin,
Hazeldell, and Resley Creek area’s
past and its people.
“The word “genealogy” often
congers up mundane visions of
names, dates, and places. If that’s
all the that is pursued, one is miss-
ing out on the most interesting and
fascinating aspects of ancestry,”
said a HCGS spokesman. “Always
keep in mind that those names that
are uncovered belonged to living,
breathing individuals who walked
this earth centuries ago. The un-
folding of their day-to-day existence
can bring the past to life in an in-
triguing way.”
Volunteers at the HCGS Library
and Research Center have re-
turned from the holiday break. The
Center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.,
Monday through Saturday.
It is time to set up Family Circle
Journal ads for the year. As a sup-
porter of the HCGS, $25 will cover
the ad in all three issues of the Jour-
nal in the year 2000.
For more information, contact
the Center at (254) 386-4566.
