CHILDREN AND CHIROPRACTIC CARE
You don’t have to be old and creaky to benefit from the care of a chiropractic. The active
lives of children, with their tumbles and spills, make them susceptible to the spinal misalign-
ments - called vertebral subluxations-that can cause pain and malfunction in other parts of
the body. In fact, even the process of bith, given the hours of compression a fetus spends in a
contracting uterus and traveling through the birth canal, is one of life’s most physically trau-
matic events. The process can put enormous pressure on an infant’s neck, spine, muscles and
nerves. Since the nerve system controls functions all over the body, vertebral misalignment
that happens during birth could manifest itself later in a variety of ways.
Some reserch has suggested that the problem of colic can be addressed with chiroprac-
tic care. And since chiropractic treatment never includes the use of drugs, many parents are
choosing chiropractic treatment as a first step with some common childhood maladies. Even if
a child does not manifest a particular problem, chiropractic treatment can keep a child’s spine
and nervous system working at maximum efficiency. Courses in pediatrics are offered at the
professional and post-graduate levels at accredit chiropractic colleges.
