week. The Academy to Freedom is
being established at Howard Payne
College at Brown wood.
The academy will not only offer
a four-yesr curriculum with spe-
cial emphasis on our great Ameri-
can Heritage but will house an
outstanding display to the high-
lights to General Douglas HacAr
thur’t activities and how a number
of personal item* used by the Gen-
eral, such as hi* campaign hat, his
Con creational Medal to Honor a
ward, a pair to his glasses, his

nila which was presented to him on

monthly payments to dependent*

ceiving social security disability
benefit*, stated Bob McLean, Field
Representative, of the Waco So
cial Security Office Benefits may
be paid to an unmarried child un-
der age 18. a disabled child 18
years of age aad older, a wife, re-
gardtetw of her age, who ta earing
for a child receiving payments,
and a wife or a dependent bus-
band of retirement age.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jim
Rushing, aged 84 to Walout Springs
were held to 2:00 o'clock on Satur-
day afternoon. February 20. In the
Walnut Springs Methodist Church,
with Reverend Hiram Johnson of-
ficiating
Mrs Rushing, who was well -
known throughout Beeqae County,
died tat the Clifton hospital at
9:30 o'clock on Thursday night,
February II. She had beea a pa-
tient there since February 4.

her life. She was married to Jim
Rushing in that city in 1908
Mrs. Rushing was s member to
th* Presbyterian Church; however,
due to the absence to a Presbyter-
ian Church in Walnut Springs, aha
attended the Methodist Church and
was one of its moot active workers.
, She also was a member to the
Walnut Springs Garden Club and
an early member of the CLC Stu-
dy Club, which was organised in
1903.
Surviving Mrs. Rushing are her
husband. Jim Rushing, of Walnut
Springs, a brother. Jim Hogg Sni-
der, and q nephew, Jim Hogg
Snider Jr , of Waco; and a niece,
Mrs. Clyde Head, to Che burn*
She also wa* a cousin to Mias Sue
Snider and of the 1st* Mm. C. R.
Nichol and Mra. N. W. Willett to
Clifton.
