Sentinel Briefs
Mike G. Aguilar
1926-2003
Rosary for Mike G. Aguilar, 77. of San Bernadino, California,
formerly of Seminole, will take place Thursday, August 21, at St. James
Catholic Cliuich in Seminole and a funeral mass is also scheduled for
Friday, August 22 at 10 a.m. at the church with Father Reynaldo Reyes
officiating. Burial will be in the Gaines County Mausoleum with services
under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Seminole.
He died August 18 in a nursing home in San Bernadino, where he
had been in a care facility the past six years.
He was a long-time Seminole resident and
a 1945 graduate of Seminole High School. He
had been deaf since the age of six and could
read and write both English and Spanish at that
age. He mastered the art of reading lips and
tutored others in their studies. He was preceded
in death by his parents. Joe and Maria Aguilar '
of Seminole.
Survivors include three sisters, Mary 1
Green of Canyon, Lupe Smith of Hemett, California and Anita
Kofoid of San Bernadino, California; three brothers, Joe Aguilar
of Fort Worth, Charles Aguilar of Fair Oaks, California and Luis
Aguilar of Fort Worth; and 11 nephews and nieces.
Gracie Helen Gray
1921-2003
Services for Gracie Helen Gray, 81, of Lubbock, formerly of
Seminole, will take place at 4 p.m. Thursday, August 21, at Ashmore
Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Mosley officiating, assisted by Merle
Fulmer. Burial will be in Lamesa Memorial Park with services under the
direction of Branon Funeral Home of Lamesa.
She died Sunday, August 17 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
She was born October 21, 1921 in Gaines County and married
Eyerett Worth Gray November 19, 1943 in Lubbock. She taught school
for many years and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a
member of the Baptist church. Her husband preceded her in death on
March 7, 1996.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynn Gray Welch of Lubbock;
and two sisters, Mary Seale King of Lubbock and Iris Hudgin of
Welch.
The family suggests memorials to Ashmore Baptist Church.
Encarnacion Perez, Jr.
1966-2003
Funeral mass for Encarnacion Perez, Jr. 37, of Seminole, will be
celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 21 at St. James Catholic
Church with Father Reynaldo Reyes officiating. Services will be under
the direction of Boyer Funeral Home of Seminole.
He died Saturday, August 17, at Yoakum County Hospital following
a sudden illness.
He was born January 4, 1966* in Floydada and had worked as a
farm laborer. He moved to Seminole in 1975 from Cone and married
Irma Villegas in Seminole in 1988. He was a member of St. James
Catholic Church and a past volunteer for Seminole EMS. His body will
lie in state at the church until service time.
Survivors include his wife, Irina; two daughters, Erika Perez
and Monyka Pe^ez of the home; one brother, Alejandro Perez of
Seminole; and two sisters, Joanna Rodriguez and Mary Perez, both
of Seminole.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hall, Vidal Mares, Marcus Goree, James
Villega£, Trini Valdez, Ruben Valdez, Michael Longoria, David Apple
and Richard Rodriguez.
Mary Saylor
1911-2003
A memorial service for Mary E. Saylor, 92, of Mountain View,
Arkansas, formerly of Seminole, will be held Saturday, September 6, at
2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Seminole.
She died Friday, August 8, at Stone County Memorial Hospital in
Mountain View.
She was bom June 18, 1911 inSabetha, Kansas and lived in Seminole
from 1947-1999. when she moved to Mountain View. She had resided in
a nursing home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard R.
Saylor.
Survivors include, a son, Kenneth Saylor of California; a
daughter, Barbara Wharton of Mountain View, Arkansas; four
grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-
grandchild. “ ”

Ten free Colorado blue
spruce trees will be given to each
person who joins the National
Arbor Day Foundation this month.
The trees will be shipped
postpaid at the right time for
planting between October 15 and
December 10 with enclosed
planting instructions. The 6-12 inch
trees are guaranteed to grow, or they
will be replaced free of charge.
In addition, members will
receive a subscription to the
Foundation's colorful bimonthly
publication. Arbor Day, and The
Tree Book with information about
tree planting and care.
To receive the 10 free
trees, persons should send a $10
membership contribution to Ten

mischief that occurred from about 10 p.m. November 24 until the early
