Klondike News
By John & Liz Hopkins
The Church at Klondike
hosted Ms. Blonnie Gregory
for Sunday morning worship.
Ms. Gregory and her late hus-
band had a 37 year ministry
driving an 18-wheeler around
the country preaching and min-
istering at truck stops all over.
Along the way, she learned
what is important and what is
less important and her sermon
on Sunday proved that. I’ll let
you know if she is scheduled to
come back and I’d encourage
each one to hear her.
Patricia Blundell attended an
auction at Wade and Lucille
Bledsoe’s house on Saturday.
Ms. Bledsoe had been one of
Patricia’s teachers and Patri-
cia actually bought one of the
dresses Ms. Bledsoe had worn
in the classroom. Patricia also
saw many of her old school-
mates and had a good time
reminiscing. Patricia heard
from her daughter Rebecca this
weekend that was having a de-
layed celebration of her 29th
birthday. Patricia joined her
aunt Joyce Toles at the Dairy
Queen for a chicken basket af-
ter church on Sunday.
Mabel Wheat was visiting
Hershal and Bennie in Tyler
last week. Mabel had a prob-
lem with some of her meds
and needed help getting them
straightened out. But Mabel
said she is feeling much better
now and is well on the road to
recovery.
Stella Martin and her son Bil-
ly had Cassie and Brionna visit
this weekend. Dwight and Tara
also came by on Sunday. (They
were celebrating Dwight’s
birthday.) Dee and Ross also
came to visit and Stella had a
call from Nadine Ivy in Dallas.
Steve and Tina Rainey are back
from their vacation and now
they need one to rest up! They
flew to Jackson Hole, WY,
rented a car and drove all over.
They saw Yellowstone Nation-
al Park, including Old Faith-
ful, drove through the Tetons
and took a trip down one of the
rivers there. After returning
home, Tina had two days be-
fore she went to Brady to visit
with her mom and niece. She
also attended a Band Reunion
there. The director led the band
from 1960 to 1986. He and his
daughter arranged the reunion
and it was well attended. There
was a room showing all the
films of the marching contests
the band attended and another
room with all the uniforms -
past and present. Tina said it
was a great time and she can’t
wait for the next one. After
being home again just for two
days, she went to Ft. Worth for
a baby shower and stayed over-
night for a short visit before
returning home. (I’ll bet you
can’t get her out of Delta Coun-
ty right now with a truck!)
On Monday night, Earl and
Maggie Thomas had Erik and
Holly over for cold watermel-
on. On Wednesday, Mike came
to spend the night and stay with
Earl while Randy drove Mag-
gie to the Texas Retina Center
in Dallas on Thursday. (Good
report again.) Paulette Irvin
popped in on Friday morning
with blueberry muffins and that
evening, Earl’s sister Nancy
came with her daughter Margie
from Florida. They had lunch
with Earl, Maggie and Randy.
Maggie said they had a great
day at church on Sunday morn-
ing.
Then on Sunday evening, the
youth group (about 20) gave a
report on their mission trip to
Houston. They were part of
a group of 800 youth from all
over the country and from all
denominations who participat-
ed in the painting and renewing
of an old church there. Maggie
said it was inspiring.
