The 2007 Valedictorian
for Cooper High School is
Timothy Mark Douglas and
the Salutatorian is Jamie Lea
Douglas.
Timothy Mark Douglas
Timothy Mark Douglas
has been named Cooper High
School’s Valedictorian for the
2007 graduating class. He
maintains a 4.0 grade point
average and plans to attend
Colorado School of Mines in
Golden, Colorado to pursue
a bachelor’s and possibly a
master’s degree in electrical
engineering. He would like to
work as an electrical engineer
for a major electronics and/or
navigations systems company
like Lockheed-Martin. He
is the son of Steve and Elise
Douglas and the grandson
of Phyllis Rothleutner and
the last Wes Rothleutner and
Carolyn Douglas and the late
Stephen Douglas. He has two
older brothers, Chris Douglas
and Greg Douglas. Chris
Douglas was the Valedictorian
of the 1999 graduating class at
CHS.
In high school, he was a
member of the band and went
to State marching three years,
Solo and Ensemble four years
and TMEA Class AA Honor
Band. He was also a member
of the National Honor Society,
FFA and participated in
Academic UIL where he
placed First in District in
Mathematics and placed fifth
in Regional in Mathematics.
He has received a $40,000
Merit Scholarship to the
Colorado School of Mines, a
$1,000 scholarship from the
Texas Society of Professional
Engineers and has received
a $250 scholarship from the
Northeast Texas Counseling
Association.
He states that he has “been
fortunate to have been able
to attend Cooper ISD since
kindergarten and partially
credit this achievement to
staying at one school and
working hard for thirteen
years. In addition, I feel my
family has been extremely
influential in assisting with my
education. I fully expect to be
challenged considerably at the
Colorado School of Mines and
am hopeful this achievement
will be helpful in the furthering
of my education.”

for Fannindel High School
and Kristin Lane has been
named Salutatorian.

the end of graduation
Jamie Lea Douglas
Jamie Lea Douglas has
been named Cooper High
School’s Salutatorian for the
2007 graduating class. She
maintains a 4.0 grade point
average and plans to attend
Texas A&M University at
Commerce and major in
accounting. She plans to
participate in the five year
M.B.A./B.P.A. Program to
receive both her bachelor’s
and master’s degrees. She
would like to become a
Certified Public Accountant
and hopes to one day open
her own accounting firm. She
is the daughter of Robert and
Karin Douglas of Enloe and
the grand-daughter of Tommy
and Margaret Golden of
Roxton and the late M.S. and
Jewel Douglas of Enloe. She
has one older brother, Josh.
In high school, she was
the National Honor Society
President, she advanced to
the regional UIL meet two
years, drum major for two
years, she participated in the
2001, 2003 and 2005 state
marching contests, she was
a member of the 2004 State
Honor Band, a member of the
All-Region, All Area and All-
State bands in 2006 and 2007,
she advanced to three state
solo and ensemble contests,
she is the recipient of the John
Philip Sousa Award two years
in a row, she was also student
of the month her junior and
senior year.
She has received the
Presidential Scholarship from
Texas A&M at Commerce for
$14,000 and a full Honors
College Scholarship from
Texas A&M at Commerce in
the amount of $50,000.
She states that she “is very
happy about being Salutatorian
of my class. I know that all of
my hard work the past four
years has definitely paid off.
My grades and my ranking
in my class have gotten me a
full ride to college. I couldn’t
ask for more! God has blessed
me more than I could ever
imagine.”
Delta County Fair looking for entries
From Staff Reports
Make your plans to attend
the Delta County Fair on June
8th & 9th to be held at the
Cooper City Park. Come and
get recognition for your skills
and hard work by entering in
the “Fair Competition”. The
following are the categories:
Vegetables, Canned Goods,
Cakes & Pies, Potted Plants,
Crafts, Photographs, Sewing,
and Quilting. All entries
will be accepted at the Civic
Center on Thursday June 7th
from 1:00-5:00 pm. Judging
will be Friday, June 8th, and
all entries will be released
at 3:00 on Saturday, June
9th. Local civic groups are
encouraged to have a booth
at the fair and it’s not too late
for those who would like to
participate.
It’s also not too late to
enter into the Bar-B-Q Cook-
off. Barbecue cookers are
needed for the County Fair
cook-off to be held during
the fair. This cook-off is for
brisket only with a $30 entry
fee and donate cooked brisket
for a fund raiser luncheon to
benefit Delta County Civic
Center. 100% payback of
entry fees and there will be
cash prizes for First, Second
and Third place winners.
Cookers set up may begin
at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June
8th. The brisket needs to be
cooked on site and the meat
brought to the site must be raw.
Donated brisket to be turned
to the Food Court by 10 am
Saturday, June 9th. For more
information and the entry
form, call the Delta County
Chamber of Commerce at
903-395-4314.
Tenesha La’Dale Allen
Valedictorian Tenesha
La’Dale Allen is the daughter
of Redell and Juanita Allen.
Tenesha moved to Ladonia
the beginning of her junior
year. Prior to that she attended
Cedar Hill High School.
Tenesha has been very active
during her years at Fannindel.
She has been a member of
the Lady Falcon basketball
teams her junior and senior
years. Named as the “Most
Valuable Player” for the Lady
Falcon Basketball her senior
year, she was selected to the
first team All District team
and All State Academic team
her senior year. As a Lady
Falcon track team member for
two years she has a Regional
qualifier both years. She was
a member of the Lady Falcon
softball team her senior year.
The most prestigious award
given locally by the coaches
and faculty is the “Larry
Braley Award.” Tenesha
received this award her senior
year at the local Academic
and Athletic Banquet. An
active member of BETA
Club, Tenesha was selected
to serve as president her
senior year and participated
in the Beta talent contest her
senior year. She has been
a member of the Fannindel
FFA for two years and has
competed in UIL Poetry her
junior year, advancing to
Regional competition. As a
cast member of the 2006 One-
Act-Play her junior year, she
received recognition for her
acting abilities.
She has been the recipient
of the locally given awards
in government, math, and
public speaking. She was
selected by the student body
as the Most Athletic Female
her junior and senior years.
As a concurrently enrolled
student she has received
college credit prior to her
high school graduation. She
will be attending Texas A &
M—Commerce this summer
and hopes to complete her
undergraduate education
at the University of North
Texas. Her goal is to become
a neurologist.
Kristin Lane
Kristin Lane has been
named Salutatorian of
Fannindel High School.
Kristin is the granddaughter
of Donald and Virginia Lane
of Ladonia. She moved to
Ladonia the beginning of
her senior year from Killeen,
Texas.
Kristin was involved in
soccer and volleyball at her
previous school. She played
varsity soccer her freshman
through junior year and was
captain of her varsity soccer
team her junior year. She will
be continuing her education at
both Paris Junior College and
Collin County Community
college to pursue a degree in
social work.

Fannindel Graduation
announced
Principal Greg Carpenter announced that graduation
exercises were held on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 8 p.m.
in the high school gym for the eight members of the 2007
graduating class of Fannindel High School. The class
Valedictorian was Tenesha Allen and the Salutatorian was
Kristin Lane. Class sponsor was Mary Snell and she was
assisted by Jana Stancil.
