unable to get the numbers prior
to press time. They will be pub-
lished in next week’s Mirror.
Thank you to these men and
women who dedicate their time
and talents serving the children
of the McGregor, Oglesby and
Crawford Independent School
Districts. Know that we appreci-
ate all you do for our students,
faculty and staff, and for being
great stewards of our tax dollars.
OOOOO
I RECEIVED AN EMAIL
last week that had some really
good advice and I wanted to pass
it along to Mirror readers. Some
may have already seen these, but
I think they bare repeating ....
~ Live your life and forget
your age.
~ I’ve seen better days, but
I’ve also seen worse. I don’t have
everything that I want, but I do
have all I need. I woke up with
some aches and pains, but I woke
up. My life may not be perfect,
but I am blessed.
~ Spending time with chil-
dren is more important than
spending money on children.
~ Putting your phone away
and paying attention to those
talking to you. There’s an App
for that, it’s called “RESPECT”.
The illustration had a pic-
ture of a monkey, a penquin, an
elephant, a gold fish, a seal and
a dog. . . the caption read: “For
a fair selection, everybody has
to take the same exam: Please
climb that tree. “Everybody is a
genius. But if you judge a fish by
its ability to climb a tree, it will
live its whole life believing that it
is stupid.” ~ Albert Einstein.
~ Two things to remember in
life—Take care of your thoughts
when you are alone, and take
care of your words when you are
with people.

A BEAUTIFUL MORNING SUNRISE GREETED the Mirror photographer and his son, Michael, on a late season duck hunt at a stock tank in McLennan County.
The ducks weren’t flying very well, but it didn’t really matter. Being in the outdoors at the crack of dawn has its rewards. One would be surprised at the relaxing
sights and sounds of nature in the country. It’s the best medicine you can imagine.
Police solve several burglaries
McGregor police solved two house bur-
glaries and the burglary of a business last
week, which resulted in three subjects being
transported to the McLennan County Jail.
Two burglaries that occurred a little more
than a week apart were solved after the arrest
of a 26-year-old man. Investigator Joe Coy
reported, “On Jan. 13 officers responded to a
burglary at the 1000 block of West 8th Street.
Numerous items had been stolen from the
residence and officers were able to identify
the suspect’s vehicle. Nine days later on Jan.
22, the same vehicle was spotted parked in an
alley near another residence at the 700 block
of West 6th Street.”
Officers arrested Justin Holt, 26, and
charged him with one count of burglary. In-
vestigator Coy reported Holt also had an out-
standing warrant for engaging in organized
criminal activity out of McLennan County.
He was transported to the McLennan County
Jail.
“Holt was found to be in possession of
stolen items from the house on West 6th,”
Coy said. “His vehicle was impounded and
items were also found in the vehicle from the
previous burglary at the 1000 block of West
8th.”
McGregor police cleared another bur-
glary that was reported at Foster Wheeler,
located on East Highway 84, on Jan. 2. A
large amount of property was reported stolen.
Investigator Coy pointed out that when they
started tracking the property the investigation
led to two Waco men.
Arrested for the burglary were Jimmy
Townsend and Christopher Anderson, both
from Waco.
“On Jan. 24, Woodway Police officers
and I located Townsend at a Motel 6 in Wood-
way,” Investigator Coy stated. “Townsend
was in possession of methamphetamines and
several thousand dollars worth of stolen prop-
erty from Foster Wheeler. We executed a
search warrant at a storage shed in Waco and
found additional stolen property.”
Later that same day, McGregor police,
Constable Precinct 5 Stan Hickey, Woodway
police, the FBI, the Gang Unit from Texas
Department of Corrections, and two members
from the McLennan County Sheriff’s office
executed a search warrant at the 700 block
of North 60th Street in Waco. Anderson was
arrested on two felony warrants on theft and
burglary of a building, which stemmed from
the Foster Wheeler investigation. Charges are
pending on the methamphetamine charges.”
The McGregor Police Department re-
ceived a call from Bellmead police on Jan.
14 concerning an individual attempting to
register a trailer that was stolen from Charlie
Boyles Motor Sales in McGregor. McGregor
police had Lacy Lakeview police locate and
seize the trailer, which led to the Jan. 25th ar-
rest of Linsay Wheeler, 33 of Gatesville who
was living in Lacy Lakeview. The trailer was
returned to Charlie Boyles.
Investigator Coy pointed out that Wheel-
er purchased the trailer without a title and
receipt. She was arrested for theft and was
transported to the McLennan County Jail.
Coy added that they are still investigating who
the co-conspirators were and he said they are
anticipating more arrests.
