Depresca said the boy’s
father volunteered to a
blood test to check for
drugs in his system and his
blood alcohol level.
“We have no reason to
suspect or anticipate any-
thing negative with that,”
Depresca said.

“GISD Festival of Lights” to be held
For the past five years
the Gary ISD Student
Council has been lighting
up the city square for the
Christmas Holidays. The
Gary ISD Student Council
shall be hosting this year
the 6th Annual GISD Festi-
val of Lights (Christmas
Lighting Ceremony) on the
Gary Square on December
7, 2013 to kick off this
year’s Christmas Season.
Thousands of lights and
Christmas scenes and a
dynamic Nativity scene
will light up the square
which shall be lit up at ap-
proximately 4 p.m. on the
day of the festival until
January 2, 2014.
This will be a gala event
beginning at 9 a.m. in the
morning with entertain-
ment on the Christmas
Stage in front of the city of-
fice, along with approxi-
mately 50 food and craft
booths available for the
publics’ enjoyment, and al-
most every GISD student
from grades K-12 will be
involved in this years’ fes-
tival events. The booths in-
clude jewelry, handbags,
make-up, Christmas
wreaths, hamburgers, na-
chos, cotton candy, a
moonwalk with a slide,
pony ride carrousel and
many, many more. The en-
tertainment and the
booths shall be open until
4:30 p.m. in the afternoon
with different entertain-
ment groups performing
every thirty minutes on
The Festival Christmas
Stage. Parking shall be
available at the school
campus with shuttle buses
bringing visitors to the
city square. The Gary Vol-
unteer Fire Department
will be in charge of park-
ing.
This shall be a special
exciting day to begin the
Christmas Season. The an-
nual “Pet Parade” will be-
gin at 10 a.m., if you are in-
terested in entering your
pet, please call the school
and sign up. The cost is $10.
Many school clubs and or-
ganizations are participat-
ing with the food and craft
booths to help raise money
for their individual organi-
zations.
The entertainment and
the food and craft booths
shall be available until 4:30
p.m. in the afternoon. At
