Jenell Gillem Haigwood, age 76, of
Archer City, Texas, died Tuesday,
November 10, 1998, in Hamilton
Hospital in Olney, Texas.
Graveside services will be at 2:00
p.m. today, at Crestview Memorial
Park in Wichita Falls, Texas, with
Reverend John Welter, Pastor of Faith
Memorial Baptist Church of Archer
City officiating. Arrangements are
under the direction of Aulds Funeral
Home of Archer City, Texas.
Mrs. Haigwood was born Novem-
ber 18, 1921, in Hopkins County,
Texas. She was a resident of Archer
City since the early 1960's. She was
a homemaker and a member of the
Faith Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include: 2 sister-in-laws,
Irene Gillem of Archer City, Texas,
and Deddy Gillem of Wichita Falls,
Texas, and several nieces and neph-
ews. She was preceded in death by
her husband, Jack Haigwood in Janu-
ary, 1966.

Antelope Jamboree
The Antelope Jamboree will be
gathering again this Saturday, No-
vember 21st, at the Antelope Com-
munity Center, at 6:00 p.m.
The public and all musicians are
invited. Admission is $1 and home
cooked food prices range from $ 1 to
$2.50. There will be door prizes.
Proceeds from this Jamboree will
go to repairs and maintenance of the
Community Center. The Center pro-
vides a location for Family & Class
Reunions, funeral meals at no cost to

brary facilities. Four hundred ninety-
nine books and one hundred eighty-
three videos were checked out. Mary
Lee Hawkins made donations in
memory of Lucyle Gosler and
Michael Hilbers.

ern State University are reminded

ing and Allied Health) database. Most

Hattie lives in FairAcres Home, a
retirement community in South Caro-
lina. Over dinner one night, Hattie
overhears a fellow resident planning
her own funeral-complete with a ca-
terer so her daughter-in-law's potted
the families of the bereaved, a place
for entertainment for the Community
and a place to vote in all elections, at
no cost to the County. The Center is

AMERICAN LEGION MA KES DONA TION TO LOCAL SCOUT
Officers of Ira Jones American Legion Post 198 present a check
for $320 to Joshua Robert Howells, an Eagle Scout with two Eagle
Palms. Joshua has been selected as the only Scout in the Northwest
Council to attend the World Scout Jamboree in Chili in early
December 1998.

Park Recreation Center. Present-
ing the beads was Assistant
Scoutmaster of the Wood Badge
course, Milton Burnett of
Chillecothe.
The course ran over several
weekends at Perkins Scout Res-
ervation in Burkburnett. Wood
Badge is an advanced training
course for adults to enable them
to be better leaders for youth.
The course concentrates on ser-
vice to others and helps the adults
be better communicators and
counselors for the youth.

Legion Post 198 of Archer City, Texas, for their contribution to help
me fulfill my wish to be one of only 1,500 Boy Scouts in the United
States to travel to the 19th World Boy Scout Jamboree in Santiago,
Chile. You all are now a part of my once-in-a-lifetime experience,
which will be treasured in my memory for many years to come. Along
with the experience, the Ira Jones American Legion Post 198 of
Archer City will always be remembered and cherished. I will never
forget your generosity and your caring support for the young people
of Archer City.
Again, I’d like to say Thank You, and I’ll be glad to share my
experience with you upon arrival back to Archer City in mid-
January, 1999.

Hello,
It’s getting closer and closer...that’s
right, CHRISTMAS! The Chamber
has set the date for December 5th for
the Christmas Parade. Chairperson,
Kimbra York has planned a festive
and fun evening. The parade will
start at 5:00 p.m. with the downtown
area lit, followed by candle light sing-
ing and visits with Santa. The Cham-
ber will be selling hot dogs as a fund-
raiser for Walsh Park. Merchants
will be open for browsing and shop-
ping and at 8:00 p.m., there will be a
dance at the Activity Building spon-
sored by the Archer Community
Foundation. If you’re interested in
participating in "The Country Christ-
mas", you can call Kimbra at 940-
574-4230. P.S. (If you were a past
Christmas king or queen, please give
Kimbra a call.)
The Late Week Lazy Boy Supper
Club will have some great music and
singing Saturday, November 21st.
Dinner is at 7:00 p.m. and the show
is at 8:00 p.m. The Supper Club will
be featuring Andy Wilkinson, Tommy
Alverson and Terri Hendrix. For
more information call 940-574-2505.
The Archer Nursing Home is hav-
ing an Angel Tree for their residents.
You can stop by and choose an angel to
buy a gift for at Christmas. Please
bring the gifts wrapped to the Nursing
Home by December 15th. Remember,
Christmas is a time for giving and
thinking of others.
The Chamber has set Saturday, No-
vember 21st as "Decorate the Town"
day. Chamber members and the Ar-
cher City Volunteer Fire Department
will be hanging lights and setting up
the Christmas Courthouse display. If
you would like to help with decorating,
please call the Chamber Office at 574-
2489. Thank you Volunteer Firemen
for helping to make our town look
festive for the holidays.
The Chamber will have calendars to
sell soon. We are asking that all orga-
nizations and churches give us a list of |
your 1999 events. If you want to place
a birthday or anniversary announce-
