Children, grandchildren, great-
grandchildren and close friends
of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Roberson
honored them on their fiftieth
wedding anniversary Sunday. The
Roberson home, 615 West Wink-
ler Street, was the setting for
the observance and guests called
between the hours of 3 and5p;m.
Refreshment table was center-
ed with an arrangement of gold
carnations and greenery. Gold
punch from a milk glass service
was served with the three-tiered
cake which was decorated with
gold leaves and topped with a
golden “50” set in white net
and wedding bells.
Mr. and Mrs. Roberson were
married July 19, 1914, in Rector,
Ark. Upon retirement in 1957,
they moved to Kermit and have
resided here since then.
Children attending from Ker-
mit were Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Cox, Mr. and Mrs. Hole Mein-
zer, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Wil-
liams and Mr. and Mrs. Waydell
Roberson.
Attending from Wichita Falls
were Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Rob-
erson; and from Odessa, Mrs.
Fannie Roberson Emfinger.
A daughter, Mrs. LeonHathorn
of Wyoming, and a son, E. J.
Roberson, of Arkansas, were un-
able to attend.
Nine of the grandchildren at-
tending the celebration were Gary
Meinzer and Pam Roberson of
Kermit; Joyce and Janet Rober-
son of Wichita Falls; Ann, Susie
and Evelyn Roberson, and Van
Emfinger of Odessa and Mrs.
Carole Holder of San Angelo.
Grandchildren unable to attend
but sending greetings were
Burnsie Holder of San Angelo,
Carl Holder of Phoenix, Ariz.;
and Eugene Wilkerson of Denton.
Little Miss Leigh Ann Holder
of San Angelo and Miss Julie Anne
Holder of Midland, only great-
grandchildren of the Robersons,
were present.

MIDLAND, Tex. (AP) — The
owner of a Midland barbecue
business, Clarence Wyatt, died
Tuesday night in a two-car
accident.
Wyatt, 64, died in Midland
Memorial Hospital after his
delivery truck was in collision
with a car driven by Robert
Rodriguez, 27.
It was Midland’s first traffic
fatality this year._
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Howard
Olsen, a 33-year-old Midland,
Tex., oilman, has entered the
National Air Races under the
banner of the Confederate Air
Force.
Olsen will fly a World War
II F51 Mustang in the dash
from Clearwater, Fla., to Reno
to open the revived National
Air Races, scheduled over the
desert near Reno Sept. 12-20.
Entries are limited to propel-
ler-powered craft, although jets
will appear in demonstrations.
Jerry Helmer to
Math Institute
Jerry Helmer, math and social
science teacher in Kermit High
School, is attending a math in-
stitute at University of Oklahoma,
Norman, Okla.
The OU department of mathe-
matics and astronomy is spon-
soring three institutes for the
training of 106 high school teach-
ers. A total of $148,000 was
furnished by the National Sci-
ence Foundation to support the
study program.__
Wins FFA Awards
Bill Moore, son of Mr. and
Mrs. J. A. Fitzgibbons, 721 South
Avenue A, a former Kermit High
School student and now a senior
in Biard High School, has added
more honors to his career in Fu-
ture Farmers of America Chap-
ter.
Earlier this year Bill received
an award for being the Outstand-
ing Chapter Member of the Year
in his Baird chapter.
This week he sent home some
more good news. He plays the
electric guitar and is vocalist
in the FFA 7-member Western
Band. The band won first place
in the Texas Convention contests
held in San Antonio, July 15-17.
Bill Moore and his musician
friends will officially represent
the State of Texas in a contest
at the National FFA Convention
to be held in Kansas City, Mo.,
in October.
Mrs. H. C. Murrie was host-
ess Wednesday to Elizabeth Truly
Circle, First Baptist Church with
Mrs. Richard Lawrence pre-
siding. Mrs. Bill Miller con-
ducted the program which was a
discussion of Catholicism.
Meeting opened with prayer
by Mrs. H. E. Odom. Secretary’s
report was read by Mrs. Leonard
Morgan and plans were made for
visitation in the interest of the
summer revival. The circle will
also provide clothing and school
supplies for a school girl.
Others present were Mrs.
Gerald Speed, Mrs. Ira Barrett
and a visitor, Mrs. C. O.
Mullinax.

Injured Survivors’
Condition Improves
There persons injured in an
accident that took lives of three
persons were reported to be im-
proving at Winkler County Me-
morial Hospital.
Thomas K. Peden of Andrews,
Joe and William Elliott of Ker-
mit are in satisfactory condition
and improving, hospital official
said.
