west of said 10?d degree of longitude and reserved from location until the
track of said road is selected after which all of said unappropriated land
within 30 miles on each side ofsaid road is reserved and so soon as said track
islocaled the company contracting for said road is to cause said reservation
to be surveyed into sections of 610 acres each said sections to be in a square
and those adjoining the road to lront one mile thereon and no more unless'
prevented by surveys made previous to the passage ofsaid act; and when
said company shall have completed . 10 miles ofsaid road they may designate
120 sections of land for each mile so completed to be taken in alternate sec-
tions so that no two sections shall join cah other except at one corner which
shall be patented to said company or their assigns free of cost and in like
mariner for each section until the road is completed; and in case there is
not sufficient vacant land in said reservation to give said company the-Iand to
which they may be entitled they shall receive the residue in certificates ot

btate will be received at the office of the Secretary of State nntil the first
