Timpson Succumbs
Last Friday
Funeral Service* Held
Sunday Afternoon at
Baptist Church.
Rev. W. C. Brown, age 87,
retired Baptist minister, suc-
sumbed at his home in Timp-
son at 5:30 a. m. Friday, Sept
22. Funeral services were
held at the Baptist church in
Timpson, Sunday afternoon at
3 o’clock. Rev. W. A. Dolla-
hite, of Timpson, Rev. J..-R-
Webb of Carlisle, Rev. A. B.
Moses, Sr. of Timpson, Rev.
Homer Lowell of Kildare, Rev.
H. E. Blackburn of Hender-
son, Rev. V. G. Gaarrett of
Jacksonville, conducted rites.
Taylor Funeral Home had
charge of funeral arrange-
ments. Interment was in
Woodlawn cemetery.
Rev. Brown was born near
Savoy in Fannin county, Octo-
ber 14, 1862. He united with
the Little Jordan Baptist
church in Fannin county at
the age of 16, and was ordain-
ed by this church to the minis-
try in 1885. He attended
Savoy College at Savoy, and
also attended Baylor Univer-
sity. and Southern Baptist
Seminary at Louisville. His
first pastorate was at Pearsall,
Cotulla and Devine, Texas. He
then entered Colgate Univer-
sity at Hamilton. N. Y. Follow-
ing this he served as pastor of
church at DeRuyter, N. Y.,
later serving as pastor of
churches at Alexandria and
Pineville, La. Returning to
Texas he accepted work at
Timpson and Garrison in De-
cember of 1895. Timpson soon
became a full time pastorate,
and he served this church for
several years. While here he
was united in marriage to Miss
—Naomi—Herrin-on “ June 11,
| his many years of service in-
cluded Goliad, Graham, Con-
roe, Somraerville, Texas City,
Victoria, Hondo. His last pas-
torate was at Pine Hill in
Rusk county. After retiring he
and his wife moved to Timp-
son in June. 1940.
Pallbearers were: W. T.
Gray, Sam Allison, L. W
Milam, Roe Weaver, Toro
Legg, Abby Hillin.
Rev. Brown is survived by
his wife, Mrs. W. C. Brown,
and a host of friends in Timp-
son and many other points
where he has endeared him-
self during a useful and inspi-
rational life of service in the
ministry.

7,000-mile vace, with death,
took up a vigil today at the
bedside of his critically-ill fa
ther.
Althongh exhausted after
his harrowing trip from the
Korean battle front, the 26-
year-old sergeant hoped his
presence would help save his
69-year-old father’s life.
Physicians at Valley Hospi-
tal said John’s father, Carl
Everson, cried with joy at the
sight of his son and that his
spirits had improved ’’im-
mensely.” However, they
warned his condition remain-
ed “very poor.”
