High School gym.
Tip-off In the opening game
Is at 10:00 AM when the
Chilton and Academy girls
clash.
Boys teams from the same
two towns play at 11:30 AM.
Salado's boys meet Rogers
at2:30PM.
Granger and Jarrcll meet
next with the girls playing at
4:00 PM and the boys
scheduled for 5:30 PM.
Holland meets Florence to
complete the opening round
of play. The girls game is at
7:00 PM and the boys clash nt
8:30 PM.
In the girls winners'
brocket the Acadcmy-
Chllton winner faces the
Salado-Midway winner at
4:00 PM Friday while the
Grangcr-Jarrell winner faces
the Holland-Florence winner
at7:00PM.
Respective losers meet at
10:00 AM and 1:00 PM
Friday.
Winners In the boys'
bracket meet at 5:30 PM and
8:30 PM Friday while the
losers take on losers at 11:30
AMand2:30PM Friday.
Play concludes on
Saturday. Play for con-
solation is at 1:00 PM for
girls and 2:30 for boys. The
battle for third place is
scheduled for 4:00 PM
Saturday in the girls division
and 5:30 PM in the boys
division.
The girls championship
game is set for 7:00 PM while
the boys decide the top
trophy at 8:30 PM to com-
plete the tournament.

An addition to the Holland
High School basketball
schedule has been made for
Monday December 17.
The Holland girls and boys
team will travel to Crawford
for a 4:00 p.m. contest. Both
A & B teams arc scheduled to
play.
Salado Defeats
Lassies 49-44
The Bartlctt Lassies girls
basketball team dropped a
49-44 decision to Salado
Monday night in Salado in the
final non-district game of the
season for the Lassies.
Bartlctt held a 20-14 lead
over Salado at halftime but
Salado out-pointed the
Lassies 35 to 24 in the second
half to take the non-district
win.
Sophomore Shlrl Fischer
led the Lassies in scoring
with 19 points. Others scoring
for Bartlett were Sheri
Gilmorc 8 Brcnda Gadison 6
Marguerite Gadison 6 Judy
Shiplctt 3 and Carol Sartor 2.
The Lassies finished their
non-district schedule with a
record of 3 wins and 2 losses.

The Holland Hornettcs
picked up a third place
trophy In the Florence
Basketball tournament last
weekend defeating LaVega
Junior Varsity in the final
round of play 43-22.
The Hornettcs were paced
by junior Paula Bales who
dropped In 56 points in three
games for an 18.7 point per
game average. She also
picked off 35 rebounds to lead
the team in that category.
Paula was named to the
All-Tournament team
because of her outstanding
effort.
Holland defeated Academy
43-37 in the opening round of
play en Thursday.
Scoring for Holland were
Paula Bales 16 Sheila
Perkins 12 Lou Mcwhinncy
11 and Kim Tabor 4.
Paula Bales had 12
rebounds while Sheila
Perkins contributed 5 steals.
Lou Mewhinncy completed
63 of her field goal shots In
that game completing 5 of 8
attempts.
i Shaky ball-handling and a
poor shooting percentage
contributed to Holland's
defeat In the second round of
play as they fell to Bartlett
41-33.
Poor passing gave the
Hornettcs some unnecessary
turnovers and a team
completion rate of 30 from
the field bogged down the
Horncttc attack. Holland has
been averaging around 37
a big enough difference to
turn victory into defeat in a
close game.
Paula Bales had most of
the points with 20 while Kim
Tabor scored 6 Lou
Mewhinncy 4 and Sheila
Perkins 3.
Bales had 14 rebounds with
Kim Hardin contributing 5
more.
In the final game with

Holland's junior high
basketball teams picked up
two wins against Milnno
Monday night in district play
at the Holland gym.
The girls team came from
behind to defeat Milano 31-12.
Alana Gaines and JoAnna
Vaden shared point honors
with 11 and 10 points
respectively. Sheryl Mnrwitz
contributed 6 points while
Dianin Blair had 2 Lisa
Tarpley 1 and Brenda
Warren 1.
Holland was behind 6-2 at
the end of the first period but
came back to outscorc
Milano 12 points to 6 in the
second period to assume the
lead and give Holland a two
point halftime margin.
Holland played well
defensively in the second half
as they prevented the visiting
team from scoring any
points.
It was the girls first vic-
tory giving them a 1-2 win-
loss record for the season.
The Holland junior high
boys team plowed over
Milano 51-31 paced by two
players double digit scoring
Andrew Bailey and Albert
Rodriguez. Bailey scored 17
points while Rodriguez
tossed in 12 points.
Also scoring for Holland
were Kenneth Smith 6
Darren Stroud 6 Brandon
Splnn 4 Alfred Dugger 4 and
Johnny Hicks 2.
The victory puts the boys
at 2-1 for the year.
