Astronomers, as well as less professional sky-gazers,
are looking forward to the appearance of the Comet
Kohoutek which will be visible to the naked eye from
late November to mid-February. It is expected to far
outshine the famous Haley's Comet which put on its
last show in 1910.
Many of us remember Halley’s Cnr*ci - but it took a
consultation with the encyclopedia to freshen my
memory. If you are interested, the information is all
there.
Since many of us might not be around when the
Kohoutek makes its next scheduled appearance [some
50,000 years hence), we'd better take a good look this
time around!

Wild javelinas, two of them, made the local headlines
this week. One day they appeared in Flour Bluff an the
next morning they had made their way to the Naval Air
Station where sailors gave chase
One of the hogs met an inglorious end as the result of
injuries sustained when he fought to free himself of
ropes that bound him. The other, at last report, was
being held in a dog pen at the Base security
headquarters, awaiting reclamation by a TP&WD game
warden.
Even javelinas get wanderlust or maybe they were
just trying to join the Navy and see the world
