marriage vows at an attar
decorated with candelabra and
greenery. Rev. Devere Sanson
performed the double ring
ceremony at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 19
in the First Baptist Church in
Newton.
Parents of the couple are
former Silabee residents Mr.
and Mrs. Ernest Thompson of
Newton, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl
Vernon Wilson of Kirbyville.
Terri Smith and Judy Stiven-
der were soloists, accompanied
at the organ by Nelda Walthall.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride selected a
formal candlelight gown of silk
organxa and re-embroidered
Alencon lace. The bodice fee
lured a sheer yoke of pearl
encrusted lace which formed
the Queen Anne neckline and
followed the Princess silhoutte.
Long sheer sleeves were gath-
ered on a lace trimmed cuff and
appliqued Wfch the same lace
motif. The skirt fell to slipper
length and flowed into ia
cathedral length train. The
akirt and train were encircled
by a delicate lace scallop. She
wore a lace trimmed pearl
encrusted coif which held fin
gertip tiers of candlelight illu
sion edged in matching lace
scallops. The bride carried a
candlelight lace covered Bible

Following a wedding trip to
Corpus Christi. the couple will
reside in Beaumont where he is
employed by Bella Construction
Company and the bride is
presently a student at Lamar
University.

Undy L Odom
Lindy L. Odom has been
promoted to assietant foreman
(fluid catalytic cracking unit) at
Texaco's Port Arthur plant,
according to an announcement
this week by Gordon E. Bab
bitt. area manager. The promo
tion is effective immediately.
Odom wu born in Spurger.
and was graduated from Spur
ger High School. He joined
Texaco at the Port Arthur
Plant in 1961 aa a laborer-yard
department.
Odom and hit wife. Violet,
reside in Silabee. They have
two sons, one daughter, and
two grandchildren.

Lists 22 Winners
In 11 Events
An all-city tennis tournament
sponsored by the Parks and
Recreation Board over the
weekend drew 66 participants
with 22 first and second place
winners in 11 categories.
A consolation winner waa
also selected in 11 of the 11
events. Hie matches ware
layed at the city park on
tipple Road and the Silsbee
High School courts.

which was held on Aug. 18,19

Kickoff Ride
To Be Sept. 9-10
The Spanish Trail Kick-Off
Ride will be Sept. 9 and 1C at
Half Dollar Pasture Cunp Site
north of Porter on Highway 59
south of Cleveland.
There will be a free dpnee for
riders on Friday night, a
16-mile cfrdn ride, Saturday
night dance and a 12-mile circle
ride Sunday. Rides will be
catered. A trophy will be given
for most signed riders. Those
interested may contact Joe

Oregon is considered the
smallest river in the world. The
“D” connects Devil’s Lake to the
Pacific Ocean. At low tide, the
