those they serve, Finch said.
“I believe this new part-
nership will be a great ben-
efit to our communities,
physicians, employees and
patients as we combine our
resources and talents to bet-
ter reach more people in
need,” he said.
HMMC will remain a non-
profit, faith-based organiza-
tion, and over time, is expect-
ed to adopt the Texas Health
brand. Texas Health will own
controlling interest in the
joint venture, and Adventist
Health System will continue
to manage the daily opera-
tions of the hospital.
“One of the great things
about this 14-15 month dat-
ing period, if you will, is you
become acquainted,” said
HMMC board chairman Rich
Reiner. “The hard work is
now ahead of us.”
“I think this is going to be
a tremendous asset for Bur-
leson and Johnson County
area,” state Rep. Rob Orr,
R-Burleson said. “You’ll see
better health care offerings.
You’ll see improved service
for the community.”
Adventist Health System
have strong foundations
as faith-based, non-profit
health systems that are dedi-
cated to improving health in
the communities we serve,”
said Adventist Health Sys-
tem President and CEO Don
Jernigan. “Huguley Memori-
al Medical Center’s affiliation
with Texas Health Resources
connects two systems that
share a commitment to pro-
viding patient care driven
by excellence, delivered with
compassion, and inspired
by the healing ministry of
Christ.”
The name will probably
change sometime within one
year, Finch said.
“We intend to have the
Texas Health brand used
here, so there will be a name
change. But that’s not the
priority right now. First, we
want to get the partnership
established, but my estimate
is sometime in the first year.”
Jobs at Huguley are safe,
Finch said.
“No one is losing their job,”
he said. ‘There will not be a
termination of any services.
It’s a partnership to work
together and the intent is to
work together to grow Hugu-
ley. Under the continuation
of Adventist Health System
operating the hospital, we’ll
work together with THR.”
There is nothing in the
agreement that calls for a
cut in services or jobs, Finch
said.
FINALS: Dunn qualifies

said. “When I was younger, I
didn’t want to. As I got older,
I decided it was something I
wanted to do.”
She ranks third in break-
away roping among all NTH-
SRA competitors with 489
points, trailing only Casey
Decker of Keller and Abby
Cordell of Bowie.
The top 10 competitors
qualify for Finals and there’s
an outside chance she could
qualify in two events. She
ranks 16th with 274 points in
ribbon roping. She’s ranked
19th in the cowgirl all-around
with 686 points and as a team
Joshua is ranked 20th. She
also happens to be the queen
of the J oshua rodeo team.
“She’s a very sweet girl,”
said Naomi Eubank, the
sponsor for the J oshua rodeo
team. “She goes at it really
hard.”
The association will offer
two more rodeos before the
finals take place. It could be
enough of an opportunity for
Dunn to move up in the rib-
bon roping standings and
qualify in two events for the
Finals.
“I’m practicing more,”
Dunn said. “You can go to
Finals behind and, because
points are double, still end up
first if you do well.”
She’s been working on one
weakness she has found with
her approach to roping.
“I have a problem getting
my rope up fast,” she said. “A
lot of the girls have their rope
up before they leave the box.
I’m trying to get my rope up
sooner.”
Not only does she partici-
pate in rodeo, Dunn is also
active in the J oshua FFA. She
showed a steer and a pig this
year. Her steer took third in
its class at the Johnson Coun-
ty Junior Fivestock Show and
she had the breed champion
steer at the show as a junior.
She has qualified for the
NTHSRA Finals for the first
time.
“My goal was to go to Fi-
nals and be in the top five,”
she said. “As the year went on,
I began to realize I might have
a chance to get to first place.”
It was about four weeks
ago, when she viewed the
point standings, that she re-
alized she would be going to
the NTHSRA Finals.
“At this point, you have to
worry about just catching,”
Dunn said. “A lot of the girls
seem to be missing because
they’re thinking about Fi-
nals.”
About every weekend, a ro-
deo takes place in the NTH-
SRA. It’s not as easy to point,
as it might seem, Dunn said.
Each competitor has one op-
portunity to catch at each ro-
deo.
It could be that Finals
helps place Dunn on a path
into her future. She plans to
attend Weatherford College
and will join the school’s ro-
deo team. From there, she’s
hoping to transfer to Tar-
leton State University and
compete on its rodeo team.
Eventually, she would like to
get a PRCAcard and compete
in barrel racing. She intends
to major in education and
business.
“I want to be a teacher and
hopefully start up a daycare
center,” she said. “That way,
in the summer I will still have
the daycare to fall back on.”
The Joshua rodeo team will
hold its end-of-season ban-
quet at 6:30 p.m. Friday at
the Johnson County Sheriffs
Posse Rodeo Grounds in Cle-
burne. It is offering anyone
with an interest the opportu-
nity to join next year’s team
during a meeting at 6:30 p.m.
Monday at the Joshua High
School lecture hall.
“We just want as many par-
ticipating as we can get,” said
Eubank, who’s son Chad par-
ticipated on Joshua’s team
before a pro rodeo career. “I
think the rodeo team can be a
big program for J oshua.”
