Thrift Shop Sale
The Rains County Good
Samaritans will hold a sale at
its Thrift Shop on Saturdays,
March 8, 15, 22 and 29, from
8:30 to 12:00 noon. Funds go
to purchase food for the needy
and operate the center. The sale
includes clothes for all ages
and sizes, household items and
knick-knacks. There is new stock

Olympics March 7
Rains ISD will hold the sev-
enth annual Special Olympics
Meet on Friday, March 7, at the
Wildcat Stadium. The Rains ISD
delegation will lead the open-
ing parade at 9:30 a.m. Come
support all the athletes from 9
school districts and be a part of
this rewarding day.

Fish Fry April 26
Mars Hill Masonic Lodge will
hold its annual scholarship all-
you-can-eat fish fry dinner on
Saturday, April 26, from 4:00-

ceeds will go to a scholarship

that qualify under Texas law to
receive property tax exemptions
must apply to the Rains County
Appraisal District by April 30.
The April 30 deadline also
applies to businesses that are
receiving tax abatements granted
by taxing units; to firms that ship
inventory out of Texas that may
be eligible for the “Freeport”
exemption; on certain goods
in transit for property stored in
warehouses and moved within
175 days; and to businesses that
construct, install or acquire pol-
