Page foursome repeats as chamber tourney champions

The team representing
Page Quarter Horses of Bur-
leson galloped to the fin-
ish line June 22 ahead of a
crowded field to win the 16th
annual Joshua Area Cham-
ber of Commerce Golf Tour-
nament with a 16-under, 56
at Cleburne Golf Links in
Cleburne.
The tournament was
originally scheduled for May
11 but was canceled after six
holes because of rain.
The Joshua Star team fin-
ished in second place with a
15-under, 57, while teams
representing Billy Harris
Roofing and Pinnacle Bank
tied for third place with
14-under, 58s. Billy Harris
was awarded the higher fin-
ish in a scorecard playoff.
Teams representing A&B
Automotive and Atmos En-
ergy tied for fifth place with
13-under scores of 59.
“We had to regroup be-
cause of the rainout, but I
think everyone had a good
time and it was a good day,”
J ACC President Kim Hender-
son said.
Henderson praised JACC
board chair Kelly Pacleb and
the team of organizers com-
prised of Debbie Kelly, Bob-
bie Rumsey, Angela Warmath
and Robin Witt.
Fifty-six players on 14
teams participated in the
best-ball scramble that raised
money for JACC projects.
Page Quarter Horse team
members are Mike Flynn of
Joshua, Billy Don Holder
of Everman, Lonnie Page of
Burleson and Bill Robbins of
J oshua.
The foursome also won
the tournament last year
when it was played at Hid-
den Creek Golf Course in
Burleson.
The Joshua Star team
improved one spot this year
after finishing in third place
last year.
Two players from Trophy
Club — Ryan Brateris and
Chris Somoge —joined Bur-
leson resident Shane McNeel
to comprise the Billy Harris
Roofing team that tied on
the course with the Pinnacle
Bank team of David Lee,
Kevin Lee, Chris Nelson and
Mike Walker.
Brateris won the longest
drive contest with a blast of
333 yards on the 553-yard,
par 5 hole No. 16.
Annie Ellis of J oshua won
the closest-to-the-pin contest
when she put her shot eight
feet from the pin on the 141-
yard, par 3 hole No. 8.
