GIRL SCOUT CAMP PARTICIPANTS
Four Brownies from the Seminole Girl Scouts, Troup 129, and their moms were invited to attend a special camp
at Camp Mitre Peak in the Ft. Davis Mountians, available for Girl Scouts who sold over 500 or more boxes of
cookies in the Permian Basin area. The girls received certificates and medals honoring their accomplishments,
as well as special recognition for having traveled the furthest distance to the camp. While at the camp, the girls
had a chance to particpate in a pool part, karaoke, horseback riding, archery, hiking, nature walks, and arts
and crafts. Pictured above are the four Seminole girls who participated in the camp. They are, in no particular
order, Marisol Bolanos, Ashley Ledesma, Kourtney Kildow and Klarisso Carnero.

Services for Betty Lee
Thompson, 93, of Seminole,
were held Friday, June 11, at
2 p.m. at the Westside Church
of Christ with Leo Copeland
officiating, assisted by Jason
Moore. Burial will be in Gaines
County Cemetery South under
the direction of Boyer Funeral
Ffome of Seminole.
She died Tuesday, June
8 at Memorial Health Care
Center in Seminole following
an illness.
She was born July 1, 1910
in Paradise and married John
Thompson November 28, 1934
in Lovington, New Mexico. She
was a nurse for 12 years and a
Pink Lady at Seminole Memori-
al Hospital. She was a member
of the Westside Church of Christ
and had lived in Seminole since
1926, moving from Loop. She
was preceded in death by her
husband, John, in 1964 and by
two brothers, J.G. McCleskey
and Jim McCleskey.
Survivors include one
son, John Barry Thompson of
Odessa; two daughters, Vicky
Clark and Kathy Davis, both
of Seminole; one sister, Lan-
nie McCleskey of Seminole;
six grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.

The annual Seminole Vol-
unteer Fire Department brisket
sale will take place June 24-27.
Cost is $25 per brisket
and orders can be taken from
D.A. Dagley, 758-9822, J.D.

any volunteer firefighter.
Proceeds will be used for
needed projects of the depart-
ment.

The Seminole City Park will
come alive with Gospel Music on
Saturday, June 19, as the second
annual Sagebrush Sounds Cow-
boy Gospel Gathering will be held
from 9 a.m. until dark.
There will be no admission
fee for the day long event, which
will include nine different Chris-
tian bands from the Seminole and
surrounding area.
Donations of canned food
and non-perishable foods will be
taken at the event, with the pro-
ceeds going to Community One,
a local food bank who helps those
who are in need.
Concessions will be provided,
which will include a barbeque

Seminole's own Sagebrush
Sounds will headline Saturday's
event, r
The public is also invited to
a citywide, non-denominational
worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday
morning.
Summer Theatre Auditions
to be Held June 17th
Tryouts for the Seminole Summer Community Theater will be
held at the Seminole High School Little Theater on Thursday, June 17
at 7 p.m.
Lindsey Harriman, a 2000 graduate of Seminole High School, will
direct this summer's play, entitled "The Boys Next Door."
