This
That
There may be some
compensation in growing
old, but one sure thing, it is a
fast way to lose friends. As
happened too often in the
past few years, another
friend left us last week.
Rev. Lewis Hill, a county
resident since 1962 when he
was called to serve Faith
Memorial Baptist church as
pastor, died suddenly at his
Archer City home on
Monday. This ended 45
years of service as one
God’s messengers in six
churches in Montague Cou-
nty and two, Faith Memorial
and Mankins, in Archer
County.
Rev. Hill grew up on a farm
in Montague County and
graduated from Hardin-
Simmons, and could easily
relate to the rural people. He
was a minister but did the
same kind of manual work
his neighbors did. As a

By Ruby L. Robertson'
oi fulltime employee of the
Texas Highway Dept, he was
often confident and counsel-
or to his co-workers as
opportunities arose. To
those who did not attend
church, regularly, he was
available for weddings, or
funerals, and counseling.
Denominational lines meant
little to him, for he served
everyone through his church,
volunteer and fraternal
organizations.
One of his favorite pasttimes
and he had very little of that,
was people watching. He
loved people and people
loved him.
Although Lewis and his
wife, Mary, had no children
of their own they have many
spiritual children, young
people they met through his
work or her work at the State
hospital. The Hills would
introduce these young people
to their Savior and in their
quiet, consecrated way, show
them the joys of the Christian
life.
Surely there is a special
place in heaven for faithful
ministers, and somewhere in
that great heavenly space is a
garden where the rural
pastors can sit down to enjoy
the glory surrounding'them.
Perhaps they will breathe a
prayer for those of us left
here to carry on the work
they so faithfully started.
The Mamie Raborn Center
for Economic Education at
Midwestern State University
in Wichita Falls, offered two
workshops in economic
education for public school
teachers during MSU’s first
summer session of 1985. A
total of seventy-three area
teachers enrolled in the
Economic Education Work-
shops.
The first workshops focused
on Public Sector Topics and
met from June 10-21. The
second workshop, Private
Sector Topics, met from June
24-July 5. Both workshops
utilized the videotape series
Trade Offs, Give and Take
and Tax Whys,
Teachers attending the
workshops represented the
following school districts:
Burkburnett, Chillicothe, Ci-
ty View, Cleburn, Electra,
Henrietta, Holliday, Iowa
Park, Olney, Petrolia, Sem-
inole, Snyder and Wichita
Falls. Among the teachers
enrolled, there were forty-
four primary, seven inter-
mediate, ten junior high and
twelve senior high school
teachers.

My thanks to Dr. Schlomach

hospital. God bless each and
keep them in your special

one who visited and sent
flowers. Thanks again.

NOTICE OF INTENT TO IMPLEMENT RATES
General telephone Company of the Southwest in accordance with the Public Utility
Regulatory Act and the Rules of the Public Utility Commission of Texas gives notice of
its intent to implement new exchange access rates for the provision of shared tenant and
tenant resale services.
These proposed rates are applicable to customers of General Telephone Company of
the Southwest, excluding hotel/motel customers, who provide local exchange telephone
service of General Telephone Company of the Southwest to their tenants or patrons on
a resale or shared use basis. This resale or sharing arrangement is normally provided
utilizing a customer-provided PABX or other similar stored control, switch capable of common
control processing or other features commonly associated with a PABX “Smart” switch.
These proposed rates are designed to recover costs on a usage basis for local exchange
telephone service access and are identical to General Telephone’s “Optional Measured
.Service” rates. The monthly access rate will be $28.95 per trunk line and the usage rates

As this is a new service offering, we are unable to determine the number of customers
who may be affected. Currently, there are no known prospective customers. Until any
customer utilizes this new ottering, there will be no effect on the revenues of the telephone
company, and in any event, the telephone company does not expect revenues to be affected
by more than 2Vi percent. These proposed rates, where applicable, will provide tariffed
local exchange access to customers who then will provide shared or resale services to
tenants.
These proposed rates have been suspended by the Public Utility Commission of Texas
and will become effective as proposed or modified by order of the Commission on a date
to be determined by the commission..
The proposed rate schedule is on file with the Commission for public inspection and
is also available at any business office of General Telephone Company of the Southwest.
Persons who wish to intervene or otherwise participate in these proceedings should
notify the commission as soon as possible. A request to intervene, participate, or for further
information should be mailed to the Public Utility Commission of Texas, 7800 Shoal Creek
