In an inspiring assem-
bly, on October 2, the
National Honor Society in-
stalled seven new members*
These new members are as
follows: Raymond Frerich-
junior, Rita HcBroom,
Brenda Elledge, Harold
Smitson, and Hickey Horany,
CROWNING QUEEN AND SWEETHEART
TONIGHT CLIMAXES HOMECOMING ACTIVITIES
The Homecoming activi-
ties have begun this last
week by the selling of mums
and stickers. The pep
rally will be Friday which
is followed by an annual
tea given by the FHA for
the Exes of AC IIS.
The crowning cf the Band
Sweetheart and Football
Queen will be during the
alf-time of the game with
aducah. The nominees for
Band Sweetheart are Katrina
Horany and Ellen Campbell,
seniors. The nominees for
Football ' Queen are Anne
Howington, senior and Tre-
cie Trigg, junior*
Everyone should come to
see the game and see who
is crowned Football Queen
and Band Sweetheart.
Following the game will
be a Homecoming dance at
the Youth Center.

STUDEnTS WILL
WORKSHOP in
Representatives of Ar-
cher City High School will
attend a workshop for the
university int-erscholastic
league events. This annu-
al district meet will be
held at Texas Christian
University in Fort Worth
on October 12. The spon-
sors of interscholastic
events who will attend
this meet are Hrs* Crow-
ley, Mrs. Ledbetter, Mrs.
Fall, Mr. Harville, and
Mr. Gardiner. There will
be about 17 students from
A.C.K.S. attending the
meet.
There will be instruc-
tional sessions in speech,

FORT WORTH
drama,' ready writing, jour-
nalism, nurber sense, slide
rule, and science.
Experts will conduct
sessions designed to help
the sponsor and contestant
get maximum benefit from
the League academic con-
tests for the spring*
Registration will be
from 8 to 9 a.m. The spe-
cial sessions will last
until 12 noon.
There is no limit on
the number who can attend
from a school. All tea-
chers and students who are
interested in UIL competi-
tion are encouraged to at-
tend these conferences.

the State Fair
Rising at the crack
of dawn on Saturday,
October 5, 19&3? twen-
ty-four eager F.H*A'f ers
left by bus for the
State Fair in Dallas.
Sleepy-qred and droopy-
looking, most of the
girls managed to re-
main quiet until they
reached Windthorst,
and this Is where the
big brown paper sacks
became invaded. Fried
chicken for breakfast
was the fad.
The grouc reached
Dallas about 9°1? and
were set free to ex-
plore the midway and
exhibit buildings.
The midway seemed
to be the biggest at-
traction and the Auto-
mobile Building second.
Being required to see
other buildings too,
the girls viewed some
fabulous kitchens in
the Electric and Gas
